Unpopular opinion: We are on this JYPE golden era right now.
Let's keep nostalgia back. Wonder girls and Miss A era was a a disaster for JYPE. Wonder girls was on decline and Miss A... was just Miss A.
After that, TWICE was born. The best JYPE group ever existed, the end.
It's a gift from God that JYPE now has a super group (TWICE) even on a small decline which is very common. Has ITZY which blew up very early but has a decent and solid fanbase. Lastly NMIXX which is a very promising project even I see many people dislike them. It's okay for a group to blew off after 2-3 years. Remember this, they will go very big on the future. This girls are the most talented girlgroup musically wise ever made by this company. But they still can't find what they really wanna do with them.
.
How can a company like this, be out of Big 3? Is there any other company that has 3 top girlgroups at the moment? HYBE excluded, they are not a single company.

So yeah, for now this is the best girlgroup era JYPE has ever seen. Peace
You rigth! This is a very unpopular opinion

I think he is losing his producer touch. Whatever happened to the golden days of MISS A/ WONDER GIRLS?

What JYPE needs to do is a massive overhaul of its creative department, stop trend chasing and sit down and figure out groups' specific concepts and identities, and stop debuting groups every two seconds. They need to realize they fumbled their 4th gen groups and work on improving them instead of throwing new groups at the wall to see what sticks. They also need to go out and find better in-house producers because the musical direction of their groups isn't very good at the moment.

You know what I would love to see from JYPE? A group with a retro concept. Imagine a group where songs like Nobody by Wonder Girls and Lady by Yubin are the group's whole identity. And we all know JYP is great at writing retro songs. I just wish JYPE would stop trying to piggyback off other companies and study what worked for them before.

This would be great, but they should go for older idols, no teens for the love of God, also, I wish a big 3 give us something similar to navillera from Gfriend, and if a company can do it, it is JYP

The problem is that JYP thinks album sales >>>
The way twice released their worst album since years and it sold 1.7M, despite Itzy losing relevancy, they keep selling million, as much as NMIXX sales make no sense, they sell extremely well.
Also the promotion and marketing strategy is the worst I ever seen even worse than Sm and YG. The fact I saw people saying oh wow I didn’t know Itzy is coming back is baffling.

"Worst album" when Signal, Feel Special and More and More mini albums exist. Driving me crazy with that take.

Reign of GGs is over in JYPE
It's time for BGS to shine AKA Day6 will be back to dominate and carry the digital charts for JYPE
And I'm not even joking they are charting better than the GGs in 2023 even with zero comeback

This is true. ITZY currently is following the JYP GG trend that we saw with Wonder Girls and MissA. Though I'd submit that Wonder Girls may have fared much better if JYP didn't so immediately try to push them to target the US after Nobody. Immediately alienated their primary audience, and Americans weren't really ready to embrace a Kpop act despite a hit or two.

I think in itzy's case,...in my opinion they should go back to what they do best teen/girl crush a la wannabe, now they are trying to hop on new trends and it doesn't fit them. Granted, their concept not always appeal to the general public but at least their fandom did, now they are going through an identity crisis. As a casual fan of them I don't know what to expect from them (musically) it feels it's not the groups I used to like.

Hot Take: I don't feel like like their concept changed all that much. It did change in some way in general though
I think that the way their recent songs are adjacent to their concept has changed so much that the perspective and purpose of the concept is drastically different.
I don't know how to word some of my stupid takes very coherently for someone who doesn't have my brain's thought process so sorry in retrospect

Maybe his American GG will take over the world.

My ears and my brain can't process BG songs...it just can't
That's because you haven't listen to Day6 the superior BG

the question is what JYPE and the groups in question deem " ok" or acceptable
I assume by golden era - you mean charting
charting is merely one measurement of success
I'm pretty sure by every other metric - merch, albums, touring etc etc JYPE's GG have done as well or in many cases exceeded their predecessors

No...golden era was more like hype... I used to have anxiety waiting for a new twice drop...people talked about JYP GGs with so much hype back then

The early years of Miss A was good, they could have done so much more with them.
In general it's a lot of randomness and luck which groups get great or not and of cource companies with money and recources. But at the end of the day it's always hard do know what members are the right ones to put in a group, which ones will be liked by the audience, which songs will be hits etc.
If JYP keep up their tactic of haveing multiple girl groups the chance is higher that one of their groups will reach the top spot compared to companies doing just one group.

Maybe it's because the company focus on international fanbases which brings in more money, albums sales & touring >>>>> Korean charting
In which case they will not even think there is an issue

Yes, but my question would be...why not have all of that and domestic charting too? It's not one or the other.
The issue is the people selecting and working on the songs are so out of touch with the current status quo in SK and no one wants to move them on. Having better songs will also only help them grow in fanbase and thus touring and album sales too.

Of course, it would be ideal, but sometimes I do feel like SK & global taste are so different.. in my opinion JYP is more thinking about the concept too, instead of the sound

but their concepts are always bland or nothing special
