It's stupid to compare eng singles to Korean singles

  • Currently only BTS & twice have put out eng singles among the top K-pop acts globally (BTS/BP & twice/RV & NJ/ive)

Cupid is impressive but even then it's just not as impressive as OMG cause one is in eng while the other in Korean

Stan be bringing up eng songs stats when it comes to biggest K-pop songs or whatever like no there's a very big difference & there should always be a distinction

Eng singles will always have far more reach & potential than Korean singles that's just facts especially when we talking about globally relevant K-pop acts

So when we talking about biggest female K-pop act song globally, onces shouldn't bring up the feels to prove a point lol nor should fifty fifty fans bring up Cupid unless stated otherwise

Only the trio of BTS/BP/NJ have been able to chart globally with their Korean songs & that's extremely impressive, basically that's why they're a global phenomenon 💯

  • but a song is a song no?

regardless of whether it's in English or Korea or Latin???

every kpop group can "choose" (dictated by company but still) to release a song in whatever language they see fit

and if english songs, in your opinion, have greater reach and whatnot then shouldn't all kpop companies suddenly force their groups to perform english songs?

but they haven't have they? does that mean they are not utilizing the most optimal strategy for global domination?

  • previously monsta x, nct 127, 17 and aespa also release eng singles ... even bp ice cream...

I can safely say that its not the language sang but rather the artist who sang it. ....

Bts eng pop songs are unbeatable...

Twice, bp, njs singing dynamite, butter or seven will not have the same outcome ...

you are right. bts whole identity to most of people outside kpop bubble is basically english pop songs now. it might suit twice and njs but definetely not bp. even ice cream was just a collab and it was just a weird song. it didn't really suit bp at all who deliver better with girl crush.

  • I'd rather not have English songs to be honest :pepe-tea: they all end up being watered down versions of what these groups can do. But well they're catchy and easier to get in the US so in the end everyone ends up loving them.

The Feels was actually a very good song though. It still sounded Twice even though it was completely in English.

  • umm ice cream, money, half of born pink are in English so :/

Not even half of born pink, most of it. Born Pink was literally treated as English one by Billboard.

Rose solo - also in English. The Album also is mostly in English

Just because something is not labeled as eng single on posters, doesn't mean that it's not exactly that.

  • It's pretty simple:

kpop songs in korean=only kpop fans consume it .

kpop songs in english=maybe people outside of the kpop bubble will also listen to it or at least more likely they will get more listners from the international general public.

So if a group charts internationally with korean songs it's probably just mean they have a lot of fans (kpop fans), not that they have any huge success among the general public. Sure we get the random Gangnam Style but that was more a funny gimmick for most people.

  • Globally relevant groups ≠ SM K-pop groups

Any of the groups I mentioned release an eng single it'll always perform better compared to their kor singles (assuming the eng song gets promoted like the kor releases)

  • The feels sounds more like a kpop song than anything on Born Pink. Lol.

Imo no it doesn’t matter if the full song is in English or not. Just some important verses need to sound “western” enough for e.g blackpink and new jeans are great examples of this.

Wrong, PV & SD are very k-pop coded lol

It does matter cause no western radio will play whatever twice last released while for the feels they might if the song was promoted to the radios

There's also a reason the biggest K-pop hits on tiktok are all eng like money & Cupid & dynamite

Ice cream is not an eng single nor was it promoted as such

BP would never release a song like Dyna or butter

seems a bit harsh mate lol

so you're saying that the difference is what a "top" group releases vs what other groups release?

since the conditional requirement is a top group since given that a top group releases eng music > top group releasing non-eng music

it just doesn't work (or not as well???) for non-top groups
