I'd say when you're a hardcore stan who stays fixated on the charting positions and sales numbers, you're not even a true fan anymore. You're a fan of their success, but you don't appreciate their artistry the same way as you may have done so in the beginning. Sometimes you care more about beating some other group instead of simply appreciating your favorites and their creative output. You're jaded from the fanwars and your love for the group just isn't the same anymore because now you just look at them as weaponry for your own agenda.
That's the paradox of being a hardcore stan.
Mind you I'm not talking about the ones who are diehard fans who love the group, stay passionate about the music, and have an undying love for the people and hard work behind it all. Rightfully, those are true fans.

I used to religiously watch all of BPs' variety shows, BPhouse, and BP concert diaries that a spent a good chunk of my time on. Its kind of ironic because I have yet to watch a single episode of their new concert diaries but I don't think that makes me less of a fan

Get on my 30+ groups stan level then we can talk lol
Why the most interesting threads here have to come from reddit bots?

I don't know I kind of like being a hardcore fan. I legitimately love stray kids and being in the fandom is fun. I don't know, it might seem crazy to some but when you love a group so much it doesn't feel weird to stream/watch everything they put out.

I've had my fun being a dedicated k-pop stan, but being casual feels really nice and breezy.

right gets everyone talking though yet the poster will never speak again lol

I agree. I've become more of a casual fan in the last few years mainly as there's no group or music that really grabs me anymore. I do still listen to new releases, but most of them I find boring. It's a far cry from years ago when I was heavily into K pop and my love for it bordered on obsession. thankfully, I woke up from those days and realized there's far more important things in life such as my daughter. At nearly 55 also, I have become a little old to be fangirling.
