But the smart money knew just how popular they were in Korea. I called them the biggest act in Korea after Love Dive blew up and they still are until proven otherwise. NJ ARE a cultural reset right now, and they do have two of the most successful songs in Melon history with Hybe Boy and Dorito, but they havent quite taken the overall crown of the top Korean musical act just yet.

what do you think the difference is in how the company is approaching ways to promote their own groups?
I think Starshit has leaned heavily on their two superstars. Everyone wants to hate on Starshit for this but i think there is a very good reason for it - WY is just insanely popular and YJ is insanely charismatic onscreen. Both just know how to appeal to people, using whatever assets they have, visuals, personality, performance skills, etc. Without those two, how many albums would Rei/Leeseo/Gaeul/Liz actually sell? How many ULs would they have been able to attract even if the music were the same? They would have been another WSJN at best probably.
Ador has leaned heavily on MHJ's expertise in crafting a unified vision and concept for the group. She had a big disadvantage as her girls didnt have the initial star power of Ahnyeongz, however she did have access to a vast array of resources under Hybe, which could easily fund anything and everything she wanted to do. The biggest question marks i had for her were her choices for their music and the casting of the members themselves, and obviously she hit a home run with both. She struck gold with the Y2K concept and the girls are individually making waves already. If she had failed with the casting or the concept, all the money and Hybe stans in the world wouldnt have saved New Jeans - they probably would have ended up with Black Mamba/So Bad/OO type results, top 100 level, not top 1 level.
