Hmm playing devil's advocate I'm thinking this is likely blown out of proportion. Now him saying it's weird, doesn't exactly have to mean negative as in unacceptable. He could have meant it's different to him. Also we know a good amount of Asia especially here in Korea and in other east Asian countries like Japan etc are still quite conservative. I think people may use this aspect about our society to paint this picture, as for the members trying to stop him, it's obvious even if they knew he didn't mean anything bad by it, they know people will automatically interpret it as bad.

For most us guys here in Korea. This is likely the same, everyone here is comfortable with skinship uptona certain degree, this is normal part of our society, but everyone has their individual limits on it. Now as far as weird goes, like I said it could have been meant not in a negative manner for a lack of a better word.

I'll give you an example. I know people who date when they cross dress or are exclusively into BDSM. I find this weird, BUT not bad it's just odd or strange to me or is a better word, different? Either way I'm happy they can do whatever they want love whoever and not be judged for it, I'm just stating that to me its not something I myself understand or fully understand so i said hmm seems weird. Does saying that make me a phobe? Despite not hating it and being supportive of whatever choice you make. I think people say its strange etc is most likely due to not being able to articulate a better word for something that's "normal" to them

He is Japanese and Korean young people see gays and lgbtq community in much better light than before.
