Twice's Chaeyoung now wears a shirt with a swastika...

  • First it was the Q-anon shirt... now its this

    dfsghdsgf.jpg

Whoever is in charge of her styling needs to be fired...

Yeah its a Sid Vicious Sex Pistols shirt...

But is she REALLY such a huge fan of anarchist 70's punk that she'd wear that for the love of the Sex Pistols?

    Context to the shirt.
She's wearing a shirt with the singer Sid Vicious, who was the bassist for 70's UK Punk band The Sex Pistols. They were true PUNK, with anarchist/anti-establisment lyrics, a discordant sound and a goal to actually shock and appal UK society at the time. They were crude, vulgar and in your face. Sid Vicious was particularly in your face, and wore the swastika shirt (like many in the scene did) to purposely offend and piss off people.

Chaeyoung is wearing a shirt that features the below image of Sid (spoilered for reasons). Thing is, getting a t-shirt with THIS image on it these days is NOT easy, and most versions of it actually remove the swastika

  • I guess she doesn't know

but kpop idols need to do some research before they start wearing t-shirts they find cool

Well the swastika is pretty well know

And considering the scandal in which Sowon from Gfriend got involved because of this or even BTS scandal about it etc...

I mean when so many people around you get involve in this type of controversy for years you should be aware of it now

  • The Q teeshirt, i could understand

The swastika, i can't mess understand it, isn't twice friends with Gfriend member?

When your friend got dragged for posing with a nazi mannequin and got educate for this by knetz and had to apologize

You can't tell me that you're not aware of the signification of it

Especially chaeyoung who seems to travel a lot and be very open minded about the rest of the world

But well maybe she liked the shirt and didn't notice the swastika on it

yeah I know but I think K-idols in general are not really well educated or aware about other countries history bc they keep making the same mistakes.

  • swastika oh boy...

    Chae why oh why?

I get that the reverted one is a sign used in temples in Japan but this one especially with the way it's turned a bit to the side is a Nazi one ;(

  • We love a queen that doesn't let symbols rule over her.

She definitely doesn’t need to get cancelled, but she definitely shouldn’t purposefully wear the nazi swastika if she’s aware of its symbolism, because it has one meaning?

American’s are just taught that the Rising Sun is a flag of japan, because technically it was, but to Koreans and many Chinese people it means their grandparents being r*ped, abducted etc.

Twice is promoting in the west so they def cant upset it.

Every hardcore band you loved in the '80s and beyond, from Black Flag to Minutemen to Fugazi, had one unfortunate thing in common: Nazi skinheads occasionally stormed their concerts, stomped their fans, gave Hitler salutes in lieu of applauding, and generally turned a communal experience into one full of hatred and conflict. Punk rockers had flirted with fascist imagery for shock value, with the Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious and Siouxsie Sioux wearing swastikas in public, but, as early San Francisco scenester Howie Klein, later president of Reprise Records, recalls: “Suddenly, you had people who were part of the scene who didn’t understand ‘fascist bad.’”

Punk rockers in the 70's and 80's did it to piss off the people in politics, the politicians were people that had served or been around WW2.

It was a way a stupid way that those white privileged bands to piss off old people, I guess it would be like wearing a North Korea flag to piss off old people in South Korea.

A dumb thing to do for sure.

"It was always very much an anti-mums-and-dads thing," Siouxsie told Jon Savage in his book, England's Dreaming. "We hated older people. Not across the board, but generally the suburban thing, always harping on about Hitler, and, 'We showed him,' and that smug pride. It was a way of saying, 'Well, I think Hitler was very good, actually'; a way of watching someone like that go completely red-faced."

Many of those punk bands would get cancelled today.

  • In Hinduism, the right-facing symbol (clockwise) (卐) is called swastika, symbolizing surya ('sun'), prosperity and good luck, while the left-facing symbol (counter-clockwise) (卍) is called sauwastika, symbolising night or tantric aspects of Kali

but its taboo in the west hehe

  • Either her head is in the clouds or she KNOWS what she is doing with all this Trump stuff in her tank top and now an obvious Nazi symbol. Considering she's into 'symbology' I'm considering the latter. I wonder if the 'individual' she is hanging out with is influencing her. I TOLD her fans they had to educate her.

  • How the world loved the swastika - until Hitler stole it
In the Western world the swastika is synonymous with fascism, but historically it was used as a symbol of good fortune in almost every culture in the world.
    www.bbc.com

here's when the nazis appropriated the swastika :pepe-torch:

The Nazi use of the swastika stems from the work of 19th Century German scholars translating old Indian texts, who noticed similarities between their own language and Sanskrit. They concluded that Indians and Germans must have had a shared ancestry and imagined a race of white god-like warriors they called Aryans

brah... the version she's (likely accidently) wearing IS the nazi one... I explained the context behind it. Everyone knows the Hindu/Buddhist original version of the symbol, but that is NOT the one being displayed here.

  • Nah, there's no excuse. Everyone and their mama knows what a swatstika is, and she chose to wear this shirt IN THE UNITED STATES, while on a personal schedule. She can catch all the smoke for making what is a truly heinous decision, especially in this political climate, regardless of what she did or didn't intend.

Bye, girl. Good luck promoting in America now.

  • yeah I know but I think K-idols in general are not really well educated or aware about other countries history bc they keep making the same mistakes.

I mean you'd think some of it would leak through considering Japanese rule over Korea ended because of WW2 and for sure they all seem to know alot about that part of their history, just seems weird they wouldn't go into the HOW and WHY Japanese rule ended when they clearly teach alot about what happened to them during it.

  • Don't forget all those idols all basically dropped school at 14, they are not exactly scholars, they are almost all mostly ignorant of these things

I think she just bought a Sex Pistols shirt that she found nice, I'm having huge doubts about Chaeyoung being an anti semitic pro-conspiracy kpop singer

    She'll delete the post anyway

  • Imagine if the stylist dressed her up in that Q-anon shirt a week ago when she was on american national TV :pepeshock:

1 year and 7 months until AVATAR 3

  • damn, I know idols maybe not be educated on those matters, but they really don't have any social media manager to check before publishing those posts?

    Well well well

Then you have all those stans whining cause their faves dont have access to their instas :'((((

The companies are royally cucked nowadays, they cannot win, they just have to focus on damage control instead of prevention

  • she has deleted her posts but she need apologize now if she know...

  • A few days ago she wore this

    Image

She was styled in this shirt, and I'm guessing the stylists had no idea what it signifies. Sort of big news in the states but probably virtually unknown in East Asia.

I know her Sid Vicious t-shirt is celebrating Sid and not the Nazi symbol. I'm still cringing. I'll chalk it up to her naivete.

I understand it's the Nazi symbol on her t-shirt. I didn't deny that. I meant that her wearing that shirt celebrates Sid Vicious as opposed to Nazism. HOWEVER, it still makes me cringe. But I think she's just naive, to be honest.
