Tbh lip syncing on its own is an after effect, the cause is fans don't care or excuse it. Labels see that and go with the flow with more LS perfs because they know everyone is doing it and no real repercussions from it.

I've seen comments regularly like the dance is to hard so they need to LS. Really? If the dance is too hard then either it needs to be toned down or the idols simply aren't talented enough to sing and dance in the first place.

Sure the occasional LS here and there can be understood because of hectic schedules or lack of health but when it's an entire promo cycle, end of year events and maybe even concerts then it goes beyond just an excuse and becomes a habit.

This debate sounds surrealist to me. I know that it’s Kpop but of course it’s better to sing properly live than having striking visuals when looks are subjective anyways and Korean beauty standards really strict.

I feel it’s the opposite over the years the lip sync has only gotten worse and sales and streams are the highest they’ve ever been. Small internet silos or haters of wonyoung who won’t even spend on IVE dont really represent anything.

Do both. Doing both is what they've been training for 3, 5 or 10 years. If after all that time + years of post debut experience they can't sing and dance to a decent level without relying on LS then they're kinda useless. Idols years ago used to regularly sing live while dancing. SNSD and Kara are examples from that time (though even they had to LS on recent music shows which is shows how sad the state of Kpop is).

there is a role for each member of the group

There are music shows 6 days a week. Plus other performances during the same day.

I have no issue with them lip-syncing in music shows or when they go on variety shows.

They definitely should sing live in concerts.

Award shows are more iffy, as they are a step above weekly music shows, so I can see why the fans may be upset about lip-syncing on award shows.
