The K-pop industry has always been saturated, but nowadays with the advent of different forms of social media, fans' attention spans become shorter and shorter. They move onto newer things very quickly.
Just wait until virtual reality and augmented reality become staples of our everyday lives. It'll be cut down to half a year.
Uhm. Actually i think it's bc these groups aren't even promoting like really promoting in SK tvs to stay known by the gp. But that's my opinion. Also we don't see 4th idols going viral viral like in the past. They lack this "connection".
It's crazy how awful my attention span has gotten over the last 10 years. It feels even more lately like "out of sight, out of mind." I'm not sure why kpop would escape that pressure, when there's always something to distract you these days.

I agree. There are multiple factors, and this is also one of them!
this is why twitter is a blessing for me so i can go on it and see all the updates and comebacks for the groups i like cuz otherwise i wouldnt see it.
it's also why i try not to stan *too* many groups (i've been stanning more than usual recently tho) cuz otherwise i wont be able to keep track with everyone.

Yes like, even though I started my journey ( 
) in the 3rd gen i watched so many tv contents of both 3rd and 2nd gen and it was really cool. Now idols don't show their fun side that much and when they do is more like towards their fandom. The gp support is lacking a lot.
