Everyone is happy when their faves do well in the charts, sell a lot of albums and yada yada yada and of course fans are happy when groups get achievements and break records cause they feel like their efforts are being..awarded in a way i guess. But so many times, i see fans completely straight up ignore the upcoming music and are ONLY focusing on breaking records, surpassing other groups sales etc just numbers numbers numbers. Are these people considered success stans? Or are they maybe scared their favorite group could get dragged if they don't do well? Especially if its a bigger group..

I mean if u like them too much u will genuinely care their success and wellbeing more than your own enjoyment and stress yourself. I wouldn't call it success stan tho, just so dedicated stan.
But there's other types of stans who jump every trendy group just to be part of the next best thing. All they want is bragging rights, validation from kpop fans, and the feeling of superiority to others cause they stan more successful group. That's success stan imo

True. But when u only care about the achievements and u get overly worried abt such things and forget to enjoy the upcoming music, are u really just a dedicated stan? Cause u can be dedicated but also just appreciate things as they come your way.

I dont think anyone forget to enjoy the music tho, they maybe stressed during promo period but it will go away after that and they can enjoy the music as they want.

Well i just dont get the point of stressing yourself over something like this in the first place. Stanning a group shouldnt be something stressful like this.
Also you'd be surprised by how many people barely even get to enjoy the music because they care so much abt the charts..

Basically being frontrunners and then abandoning them when they're no longer topping charts. Everyone should be allowed to brag about their faves but they should also stick with them when their faves flop.
What abt when u only brag abt ur faves and barely actually appreciate anything else abt them?
Maybe its not success stanning outright but i think u've kinda lost the ball if thats all u go around doing. -

its literally the meaning of "stan" tho, if one just enjoy things as they want it means they are fan or casual listener. Kpop wouldn't be where it is now without such devoted fans.
Kpop is highly competitive industry tho, also it is highly costly, it takes high budget to make comeback, if the group don't succeed they will be in huge amount of debt. If they can't do well this time they can't get fund for their next cb. They work so much but in kpop result is very low. Most if their lives hugely dependent on those devoted fans. And that's why there is devoted fans, because they know without them the group couldn't pay bills.
It's not like western pop where one can just make music in your bedroom, even if it flops there's not much loss. So most people dgaf if they flop or not, they just want music
