Everyone try to point at something being wrong with them being popular, like they don't deserve all this. But guess what they are huge . Yes most popular GG in the world. that too with very few songs compared to other. It should be seen as achievement. idk how it's used as shading like dude it's a compliment!!
Why Blackpink's success always downplayed?

They aren't even out of the dungeon yet for me to downplay them

People always grasping at straws when they want to downplay an objectively succesful act lol
It was never easy for them to gain this fandom and success and become the no1 girl group in the world with the way they released songs.

Happens to top groups eventually when they rise.
it's worse with bp tho
-

-
-
Exactly. These girls always had something unique abt them that kept people anticipating and loyal to the group.

BP success cant be denied. With much less efford they achieve much more than other artists.
But every medal have 2 sides.
I think its great for BP and if you support them to see them successful and braking numbers everthing is totally fine. but if you are a fan looking for content. may it be release new music, attend concerts or festivals, appear in tv or radio shows. do fanservice like vlogs etc. i seems most top till low tier groups can give you more.
So what can be seen as a compliment can be shade and viceversa just because of a different pov.

It's really not if anything its more impressive with bp since they're an anomaly but to give an answer to this. BP had 2-3 direct competitors for a LONG while and one of them were armies when they were at their peak toxicness. There's also Onces from 2016-2018 and MYs last year.
Also it looks "worse" for the group you always side more often cause you're more exposed to that drags that gets targeted to them but all these groups get their fair share of dragging and downplay. -

the line I've quoted millions of times it's literally in their song
the brighter my lights get, the dark my shadow grows
NOT trying to be obtuse, but Is that in a Bp song? Never realised! I always think of that specific lyric as a BTS lyric (specifically Yoongi). (Not that it is the wildest, most out there concept for fame!
Anyway, eejits downplay BP’s success. They’ve quite clearly been massive.

Gosh, I’d completely forgotten that song. Been a while since I listened and had not really examined the lyrics in a while, tbf, although I remember that song hitting hardest off the Album.
That concept is sort of a big thing for BTS! It was in a poem that Yoongi wrote in 2018, maybe? Quoted on Run BTS. Then became sort of the founding lyrics of Intro: Shadow and explored more on Mots:7.

great song indeed
hmmm...I really like shadow as well it's probably my fav "solo" song of theirs...I remember when I first heard it and thinking that it contained a lot of fantastic lyrics as well but probably in the same boat as you that I haven't examined the lyrics in a while lol

Shadow is one of my all- time favourites. Sigh. so good. Clear who my bias is! It set the tone for the whole of the release of Mots:7.
The original line from the poem Yoongi wrote in the RunBTS episode was ‘it’s hard to catch our breath - the brighter the light that shines upon us, the bigger the shadow.’ which became the whole concept of intro: shadow. ‘Even if I run away, my shadow grows proportionally to the light that follows me.‘

yeah I just rewatched/ listened to it again after your post and indeed it's right there - great line
it would seem that great kpop groups think alike
(or maybe just Suga and Teddy????)

Yeah, not the most crazy out there concept for fame, as I said, but I genuinely hadn’t realised that both of the biggest groups referenced that directly.

I think all groups have to deal with such hate most of the time it's just that the bigger groups probably see it more - I just hope that they also see the massive amounts of love and appreciation they receive and that the haters and antis are merely outliers and only comprise a small majority

Yeah, I hope so too. Must feel unbearable at times.

Objectively there are several metrics one could use to prove that.... of course there are several for BP too. Just depends on what you want to focus on.
To there OP, I dont think many people downplay BP. Well dumb people do of course but they will always do that regardless. However, in the media and by many people BP is always projected as the most popular GG in the world. They are very much acknowledged.

One metric? Sure jan
