Okay so now that I think of it, something that I've noticed about Gyuri from watching a few different variety shows, etc, with her and the group is that despite smiling and acting happy, I always got this feeling that she was unhappy. I don't know what it was. Just something about her. Like she wasn't content with being an idol or her current situation. I of course could just be seeing something that isn't there. There's probably a lot of people here who have watched a lot more Fromis_9 content that will tell me otherwise.

I'm surprised but at the same time, I'm not surprised. She was the one who came out during PD48 to try and join Iz*One even though she had just recently debuted with fromis 9. At the time I thought it was weird and maybe she was just looking for extra promotions for her new group... but maybe there was more that went into that decision.
And to the fact that during their trip to New York for Kcon, during their street performance she was the only one missing. I figured she wasn't feeling well or something but who knows.
And then she suddenly appeared as an extra on that drama and earned herself a bit of buzz among knetz and now she's realized that's what she'd rather be doing.

It actually says a lot about HYBE as a company.
HYBE has gotten so big thanks to Bighit/BTS but in term of experience and management, they're probably as bad as bottom tier. Looking at hkw they handled BTS's enlistment issue, Jimin's scandal, disbandment of Gfriend, Garam's scandal and now NewJeans/MHJ concern. The company lacks the experience and network to resolves these issue in a least damaging way

pretty sure it had more to do with hybe wanting her to limit her solo activities than her not wanting to be an idol or not getting along with members
I usually agree, but she never signed the new contract with pledis or hybe when they move to pledis or renewing her contract far before this announcement. She already done with idol life and the fact that fromis seems never getting their breakthrough after changing company for two times before pledis and she probably see that became an actress more profitable or suitable for her than two timing her career when the other one does not seems to improve. Obviously it's tiring and focusing on one that give you more benefits especially in the future is the best. And the fact this group didn't have anywhere to grip their popularity, no international support and koreans kinda hate them for the rigging issues. For me, she's smart because she will not getting younger and this is her chance to change career path. At least she still have that chance to become main role in any drama.

Well PD48 was kind of obvious. Idol School was so heavily rigged that all the members were pretty much finalized the minute they signed up, and most signed contracts before coming on the show.
The rumors were that either Song Hayoung (good dance and stable vocal) and Gyuri were the ones who initially weren’t in the lineup but producers saw their potential and brought them in. Gyuri was in a tough spot because she wasn’t considered very talented and was a bit of a last minute addition - so as a popularity boost went to PD48 and gained a lot of fans for her vocal/visual.
I think she just didn’t see a great future with Fromis. Her fans are supportive of the acting pathway. Most of Fromis fans skew heavily male however Gyuri is one of the few members with majority female fans. This probably played a huge reason into why she left. Acting generally goes well with idols who cater to a majority female audience.
It is a blow to Fromis as a group. Probably their most popular member with Hayoung and Nakko. But it’s her right and hopefully things go well.
