What's with the BB200 obsession?

Getting a #1 or top 10 on bb200 is a major win for any foreign act.

It shows your music is being consumed by Americans(US is after all the #1 music consumer in the world)

Koreans in general are also kinda simps for the US so it checks out lol

Companies believe charting high with not sustainable stability will open ever door for their artist in the usa and that will lead korea to check them out (they dont)

Tbh they would do a Monday release it would be the same It’s not like 90% of the units come from physical sales

But it doesn't, not when most chart purely through pure sales and almost 0 streams

Kpop companies are obsessed with the Western market for years now.

Some groups are even releasing english singles to try and also chart on the billboard hot 100

Fair point but for me music consumption is actually listening to the music. Sales could be considered that in the past when people listened to the cd, not anymore

It used to be big news to chart on Billboard for kpop. Actually most of Korea used to give damn aboout Billboard. When kpop wasn't big in America like today. And not everyone used to chart in the top half regularly.

Kpop companies have seen how much coverage BTS got for their Billboard achievements on 2016-17-18. They want the same for their artists that's why they are obssessed with Billboard charts.

Agreed K-pop acts streams in the US are pitiful (sans BTS/BP ofc)

Twice highest weekly streams is in the 15M-20M range sans YT (FOL album release week)

BTS highest weekly streams is in the 80M range sans YT ( map of 7 release week)

BP highest is in the 40M range sans YT ( THE ALBUM release week)

In 2022 I can definitely see BTS breaking the 100M-125M weekly streams barrier

There is no benefit in releasing music on Mondays except to get more points for music shows which is... useless

With a Friday release they can show positive results for their USA publishers, proving investing on their groups can be profitable
