Yes SM is stupid to choose hot mess over “Sun and Moon” which was very good r&b song

I included Forever and Dreams come true just because they had their own Eras! Aespa is my ultimate group unsurprisingly
I just love them and their musical direction 
imo Hot Mess is their weakest song not just TT to date

Every time it plays I listen to Next level until the change after 2 nd verse, and stop when Savage reaches its chorus(I hate antidrops)
But why you didn’t enjoy Supernova&Armageddon as much as Next level and Savage?

That they never outchart their group is why they are SolUnits in shadow of their group and not Soloists
Spotify is again not that useful in S. Korea.

He being more popular than other members doesn't prove anything about the composition of his fandom.
That's always the case, some members are more popular than the others. Nevertheless the group itself is more popular than any member.
The refutation would be when the SolUnit outcharts the group while active in the same period.
Since SHINee hardly is releasing these days, we will never know.
So if Taemin continues on this trajectory, more and more will find him independent of the group & he becomes a true soloist.
Taemin isn’t going to outchart Shinee in SK never ever
Since Shinee has good digital there, while Taemin doesn’t chart in SK
Though in Spotify he has 2 times more streams averagely for a song compared to 1 shinee song in Spotify!
If we compare Shinee’s last comeback Hard in June 2023, it didn’t make in kpop world big noise, so tt Hard has 20m+ streams
While Taemin’s Guilty cb in November had higher resonance, so he has around 45 m streams with Guilty tt

He definitely is legendary when it comes to dancing.
I have no personal opinion on his music. But statistically, the digital charts tell the story, so the probability is high that his fandom overlaps heavily with Shawols.
Of course, it can't be proven either way. So we will have to agree to disagree there.
Though this is about Taemin, I hold the same opinion about other SolUnits - Jungkook, Jimin, Jennie, Nayeon etc.

Yeah he has many shawol fans, but he has a lot of exclusive Taemin fans, which like his music only!
From my experience I can say 60% are Shawols
40% his own exclusive fans!
Why I chose this percentage? Since other member solos get much more smaller attention, compared to him!
He has 3 times more streams than late Jonghyun(he is 2nd most streamed soloist in shinee)
Also he has almost similar sales as Shinee
He gets similar streams during cb as Shinee
So he is as popular as Shinee, which isn’t the case for many soloists from kpop groups!

I actually drafted an initial list and then listened to each title track again before editing it and posting. "Supernova" was at the bottom both times. I find the chorus to be quite uninspired even annoying, and whenever I hear the song, I have the sense of waiting for the song to end rather than enjoying the song as I listen. I don't enjoy the sound of it, and I don't enjoy songs similar to it. It's a huge miss for me, but "Armageddon" saved the release.
I would call Hot mess chorus and savage chorus annoying!
I was afraid when I heard supernova snippet in Armageddon medley version, but thank god it was not the chorus
But yeah it’s weird experimental song
But it clicked with me from the first listen(after first chorus part I started to enjoy the song)

How you found him is irrelevant. His identity is tied to the group.
And yes "Subunits of 1", aren't true Soloists, in the popularity industry. Remember it is not a music industry, but popularity industry. Music is just an excuse for most.
IU is an idol, she trained are one, debuted as one, is included in the same categories when it comes to awards etc. But sure, she has grown into an icon and unlike most idols, she not only has Popularity but "Respect" of the Koran public.
As to Modern Times, like most things IU, it need not be restricted to Solo, Female etc. Her records stand fine even included in ALL.
But fine, personal taste

Taemin is not a soloist (yet), no member of any active group is a true soloist, when they leverage the group fandom.
He is a SolUnit..i.e. 1 member subunit of the group.
The best Kpop album is still IU's Modern Times. It could even satisfy Kpopalypse, a notorious Kpop mocker.

And IU is not kpop idol, you know that! But regardless it is her best album without a doubt!
It is her most jazzy album too!
It is for sure one of the best albums(especially for real instruments)!
It starts extremely strong, but to the end of the album you get bored. But I can see why you can call it best album by a soloist!
