All the promotion push aespa tag gained them nothing because their music sucks and they have no stage presence. That along with their cool fashion got bp where they are. No one from sm till this day got international attention the way bh, yg, jyp and wonder girls' first top ten entry into billboard + and even twice outdo sm acts in the west. All of this is why aespa will never be the top group. 2nd year in and they're already tanking meanwhile bp and twice were doing great.

Meanwhile the so called superior worldwide American superstars struggle to sell out stadiums in North America and certain parts of Europe and I won't even mention S America or even Asia. They also have to announce it for months in advance and still struggle to sell it while bts can easily turn Vegas in purple, sell out stadiums in America, Europe and Asia. Their celebrities have to payola their way to the top, but sales expose them in the end. I know they are jealous of them and wish they had that kind of power. The only ones who can do it are dead. I'm not saying they're equal but the last celebrity who truly had that kind of demand and ofc it was much bigger was Michael Jackson.

As much as kpop stans get called rabid and kpop gets flack for bulk buying, they actually buy abums. American fans can only give you viral tweets, but buying? They can just stream and they don't even do it. Beyonce literally has an image of a God, but she only sold 197k pure copies(and she had to pull a kpop move and add photobook+tshirt lmao) and had to do bunch of remixes to finally get that solo #1 and she sold only 50% of it on the second week. Taylor S and Adele are the only exceptions.

Anyway, it warms my cold heart that the albums buying is declining in the West and the last one to ever do it are Asian non western men. Serves them right.

The thing about 2nd and 3rd gen is 3rd gen is the last gen general public gave a fck about. 2nd gen groups had privilege bc the gp actually tuned in to watch them, so that's how they were actually famous with non kpop fans. You can't say the same thing about any 4th gen bg.

Bts started in 2013 and took off internationally in 2017. In just 4 years they outdid big 3 combined and made hybe the richest company, listing with actual "chaebol" corporations. How do you expect hot/ses/snsd/god/wg level influence in what? 3-4 years? When in those years, bts were only establishing themselves internationally. Now that they're debuting more groups, they're doing pretty great. Meanwhile it took decades for big 3 to do that. Kpop was less saturated and people watched idols on tv shows.

The same way we can't compare sales/popularity from 3rd and 4th gen, the same way you can't compare public recognition and people caring about male kpop idols today.
