This, and honestly, even if they were politicians, a single person can't save the entire world from everything that could possibly go wrong at all times. There's a reason even politicians have a priority for the issues they care and champion the most.

Plus, I can't help but wonder if this resonates a little differently for Koreans who have an actual enemy on their border than it does for say, Americans, who despite all the political crap, we really don't.

Why should they say anything about it? They have no power over it so anything they could say would be mere virtue signalling. I'm not interested in that so I'm glad they keep it shut.

it's so weird to me that people expect celebrities or idols, especially ones that are relatively unknown, to speak out about political issues on social media. you basically want them to post something so you know they're "on the right side" and you can continue to support them when you have no idea what they're like or how they truly feel about things irl outside of social media or their personas. would it make you feel better if they did post smth, but in real life feel the exact opposite and regularly donate to things you hate or disagree with?

But to expect everyone to speak up about everything wrong in the world, there wouldnt be much else to do. Thousands die by the day in poor third world countries, in large part becaue of us in the first world. Yet you never see anyone clamoring for celebrities to speak up about that.
