I don't know, but people always bring up past idols to shut people up when discussing this, as if to say "its okay because it happened before"
I think its gross, personally. The music industry is gross everywhere, and child labor shouldn't be normalized.
I felt bad even for idols in the past debuting so young 
after I saw the lineup for the girl group Classy I got more worried tbh

At the age of 13/14 everyone should study, having time to go out with friends etc and not debuting as an idol to the point of being to busy to study and many also drop out from school to focus on their career, at such a young age.

Yup, I was hyping her up so hard, then realized she was still in middle school (at the time).

I would rather have this line of work and pass school without attending it
even if just be an idol in one of mid-sized labels for just 7 years
that would give me amazing start to grown up life
debut at 14, leaving group at 21-22
then whole world is open, especially for girls which don't need to do that stupid mandatory military service, they can just do some guest acts in kdrama, model for this or that company, or even just be in support/guest member of one of variety shows
That shook me, for me the ideal age for debuting is 18 but then in Korea they treat idols at 25 like they are grandpas

It is better for them to play singers with some toy microphones in front of their plushies and dolls than be actual kpop idols.
If I were to run a company
16 would be minimum and have special signoff, and special accommodations,
17 would still need special sign off but reduced accommodations, allowing more freedom etc.
18 is minimum without special actions to safeguard the idol
With that being said I don't know how to run a kpop company. Nor will I hate on or boycott groups that have debuted so young because what's done is done, and generating noise and friction over it would be fairly harmful to the idols themselves.
It bothers me, but not for the kids should be kids logic. There are plenty of driven teen athletes, musicians, and artists. I think it's fine for them to be in training and working towards this if this is their goal. What bothers me is that I don't think that most young teens have the maturity and understanding to fully grasp what they are signing up for when they become a working idol. Also, these kids get subjected to so much public judgment as well as getting way too sexualized and it can end up skewing their perception of themselves at that age much more than an older person

At the height of her popularity, when she went viral after Dalla Dalla, they had a poll amongst college age men, which would be 20s in Korea, on what idol they would most want to take on a date, spend an evening with, get chocolates from, or something...insinuating who they were most attracted too...and Yuna won. 
And someone proudly posted that on this site.

They removed him from line up but apparently he stayed in company.
This idol survival show (Soyeon and Yuri were judges in My teenage girl or something like that) debuted girls who are mostly 15 with oldes ones being 20 (20 something). They are babysitters on top of being kpop idols 
Imagine working 12+ hours as a child and having creeps counting until your 18th birthday

I don't think you are counting that 99% of kpop groups don't succeed and that most of idols end up with no school education, jobless (and they generally have hard time getting better jobs because they spent the best years working as kpop idols) and in debt. And lets not even talk about all mental trauma and disorders they probably end up with.

Reminds me of how Amber was working part-time at a coffee-shop before leaving SM. Not sure if she had to, or was helping a friend out or something. Just always found it weird given she was in a VERY successful group from a big 3 group, which is supposed to mean you are set for life.

I mean look at Momoland for example. They had whole hit with Boom and Baam and they still had debt. They basically weren't paid at all.
Or Crayon Pop. They toured with THE Lady Gaga and their contact with their company ended and they got almost NOTHING. I don't think people understand the severity of idols debt.

But with the toxic atmosphere that surrounds idols when it comes to bad comments, or even sexual ones,
it's weird to me still.
They shouldn't be subjected to that.
But to be fair, nobody should. We all know how bad comments can get.
They call it the price of fame. If you are a "public person" you have no privacy.
