What are some things normalized in some fandoms that irk you?

    I'll start with mine: the fetishization of black women that is normalized in the army fandom (I've mostly seen this with tiktok armys). There's many examples of this but the one that irk's me is the photo of jungkook SUPPOSIDLY looking at a black girls butt at an American award show. I've seen it many times on tiktok and most of the comments are like "we don't have this in Korea" or something along the lines. That is not the compliment you think it is. Another mention is some of the weird comments that were made when bts met Megan. I know that this isn't all armys but its a concerning amount of them.

    Ageism. X looks good for their age. X is a granny/grandpa. X should stick to stuff that suits their age.


    It's weird how kpop fans think anyone 25+ should be collecting their pension and anyone over 30 should be preparing for their funeral.

    as an nctzen i see a lot of "i wish so and so member gets more lines". personally, it gets annoying and repetitive because we all want our faves with more lines ofc but them failing to understand that sometimes some members just won't get even amount of lines is sort of annoying lol. ofc constantly being given terrible line distribution isn't fair, but that's a completely different situation in which complaining is a given.

    Calling idols with their real names when they have official stage names. It's a cringey tryhard attempt to seem closer and more familiar with the idols. Newsflash : they use stage names for a reason and sorry to break it to you but you're not their friend.

    I never thought about it like that. I always thought it was just to spice things up, show duality between different sides of said idol as a joke or to avoid calling the idol the same name. That being said, I can see your point and if someone was using it for that reason, it would be an issue with me as well. I'll admit I sometimes do it, but for one of my aforementioned reasons, not to appear closer to them. My delusionalness has its limits. Have a great day/night!

    once i asked someone on twitter "what did YOU do with your life to talk shit about idols" and they posted an edit with all of their fav's awards and achievements :pepe-sad: like sweetie don't get me wrong, i'm happy for them boys but this isn't what i asked for



    also babying idols, especially male idols most of which are men in their mid/late 20s.


    i don't mind calling idols "cute, sweet" etc but everything has its limits. you can't convince me 14 yo girls treating grown-ass men, some of them with wives and kids already, like toddlers is normal. the same goes for female idols though i haven't seen gg stans going to the extent of posting a picture of their fav smiling and captioning it "look at his teefies :pleading: ". WHAT DO YOU MEAN TEEFIES? HE'S A REAL 30 YO MAN, NOT A CAT

    Mocking an idol's English. It's one thing to mishear something because that happens even with native speakers, but to mock the way they pronounce things and makes them into "inside" jokes or even imply that they're stupid because they don't speak perfect English is unacceptable and happens way too often in kpop.

    Well, l don't necessarily take kpop that seriously so nothing actually irks me but the things I don't really get are people especially fans of groups in the big3/4 who completely deny the role of the agency in the success and fans of groups in smaller agencies who treat their idols as "poor victims" all the time. I also dislike when idols especially over 21 are treated as children by certain fans, even when they mess up badly. The last thing I don't understand (and only realized this recently) is when fans say that group and fandom are two completely different things...sure but sometimes the experience you have with the fandom can influence the way you see a group (I mean for example I can understand if some people can't fully support BP because of blinks) and denying this imo can be seen an excuse to maintain certain behaviors and not try to change for the better
