Do y'all consider EXO 2nd or 3rd generation group??

-
They started the 3rd gen
-
I think they started off the third gen

-
Why would they be 2nd
probably because when they debuted, 2nd gen groups was still dominating..

EXO started 3rd gen, because they were the first of the new groups to surpass the 2nd gen groups in popularity. Just like before them TVXQ surpassed the 1st gen groups.
But then BTS got so popular that people decided to change it to a timeline thing lol. Because obviously no one is passing them anytime soon.

Why would they be considered 2nd gen?? That's weird
probably because when they debuted, 2nd gen groups was still dominating..
That is not really relevant, 3rd gen groups are still dominating and 4th gen started a couple of years ago already.

People always compared EXO to 3rd Gen groups because they started 3rd Gen.
For AOA/EXID who debut in the same year as EXO it's little different. They were often compared to groups like Sistar/Girl's Day/miss A for instance because of similar concept they didn't exactly like 'start a generation'
You dont see people comparing AOA/EXID to Twice/BP/RV do you?

4th gen

They are timeless.

EXO started as 2nd Gen Group and their enorme success in the foreign market (especially China and SEA) and overtaking popular 2nd Gen groups in Korean charts set a new standard and opened the 3rd gen. Therefore, it’s correct to consider EXO as first 3rd gen group.
However, when I praise the 2nd Gen I also include EXO in my mind, even when they’re officially considered as 3rd gen group. I suspect that people who mistake them in 2nd Gen are older kpop fans that experienced their debut in 2nd Gen era (like me).
