I’ve put a lot of this under spoilers just to make a faster load for people.

Seriously tho, I could go on and on and will. He’s obviously really really ridiculously good-looking.

But more importantly, he’s crazy talented. His voice is warm, emotional and gorgeous, and spans not only the lows of Lemonade but the highs of Sticker, Day Dream or one of my favorites here, Make Your Day. This is his live vocal.

His vocals are also insanely stable. These are also live vocals:

His exceptional dance and stage presence

There’s the rap (I think this is his weakest area actually but he’s competent and knows his limitations here I think)

His dry humor (here he congratulates his belly button on its debut with a straight face, then calls it a Korean melon because it’s an outie )

His kind and professional nature (all the crew on everything he’s worked on go out of their way to praise him for being so nice and kind and respectful)

His work ethic (he’s often described as hardworking, most recently about passing out on set from a fever while he was shooting a drama, practicing and recording year end performances and hosting on Inkigayo). He also has talked about working on improving his dancing and continually improving his vocals.

He was so cute because he said it with his full chest. He was so proud of himself.

I do think he has really grown in presence, and I think he plays such a key role in 127’s dance style - he usually anchors the choreo with big moments or next to the leads. If you think about Cherry Bomb and that signature walkout, it starts with Taeyong but I don’t think the impact would be the same without Jaehyun and Yuta and their presence on that first step.

Similarly on that side step walk

In most of the choreo he is always in the front, leading dance breaks or moving through the formation for impact moments.

It really pains me that the majority of non-NCTzen kpop fans only know Jaehyun as the "pretty prince boy of NCT". He's so much more than that.

Actually what attracted me first to NCT was their music. I decided to officially stan them after they released what I consider my favorite full kpop album (Resonance). When it was time to find myself a bias, I was stuck between Taeyong and Doyoung, who were the members I was more familiar with before I stanned them. I did however know there was a member whose voice I really loved, but wasn't really familiar with. I think I probably had googled him once or twice before and was like "oh okay, he's pretty Ig" and called it a day.

Maybe around January this year when I got more familiar with every member (and even more so when we got OT23 relay cams - pro tip if you're a new fan and want to learn more about the members the relay cams they did earlier this year are a great way to start), I started to notice this boy who would always stay low-key, just smile and nod, usually next to Taeyong who was in the center.

But in reality, this boy is so interesting, in every aspect. And the more NCT material I consumed, the more I realized that. Actually, I can tell you that even after almost 1 year of stanning NCT and having him as my bias, I still feel like there's SO much about him that I don't know about, and with almost every new variety content or interview, I learn something new about Jaehyun. I don't understand why people call him boring - well, actually I do: it's because they haven't really seen him being /him/. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does and he shows his true colors, it leaves you wanting to see more and more of Jeong Yunho and less of NCT Jaehyun.

His prince-like visuals and seemingly calm demeanor deceive people into thinking he's just plain and cold. But really Jaehyun is a lovely goofy weirdo, with a very peculiar sense of humor. The kind of guy who won't laugh at the obvious jokes, but laugh harder than anyone at things deemed unfunny.

This year my attraction to him has shifted more into respect and admiration. 2021 started off very promising for him as he was set to make his drama debut - an acting gig that he had to balance with promotions for NCT 2020 (which went on for months), year-end shows, recording for future albums, hosting Inkigayo and pretty much everything that comes with being an idol and a public figure - only to have that drama postponed indefinitely because of his co-star's bullying scandal. At around the same time and only a day after he ended his work as Inkigayo MC, the other MC he hosted the show with got caught up in a bullying scandal too. All of that while having to deal with a whole pandemic that had been going on for a year, it must have been an incredibly difficult time for him. I remember feeling sad and disappointed that he was so inactive on Instagram in the beginning of this year (I had literally just started stanning NCT and Jaehyun and wanted more real-time content), and I regret that so much because it didn't cross my mind that maybe he really needed to distance himself. With time, I've learned to accept and respect that he's not the most engaging idol on social media - which makes every single update feel like Christmas to me.

For a long time SM has wanted people to see him as the perfect visual, which is why he tries to avoid showing his true self in public. He has already mentioned that the pressure to look perfect all the time is incredibly difficult for him. But, he looks at it from this perspective: if he shows everyonse else how hard he works and how much he enjoys every moment of him /trying/ to act perfect all the time, that's how he finds happiness himself. So even though it's a big challenge for him, he doesn't hate having to look and act a certain way - it makes him happy because it gives him motivation to work hard while knowing people are aware and respect him for that. It just shows you how positive this boy is.

Recently in fancalls he talked about the hiatus period 127 had from Loveholic to Sticker era - he told fans that he focused on growing his skills as a singer, while also picking up new hobbies (in an interview a while back, he specifically mentioned tennis as a hobbie he fell in love with recently). I've already talked about this in the NCT guild recently, but it makes me so happy how he used this pause period to both improve his skills as an idol/singer, but also to try out new things and keep a healthy lifestyle. As someone who struggles with finding motivation to keep going when things turn shitty, this is very inspiring and role model like (and especially since Jaehyun and I are the same age - sometimes I wish I was a bit more like him as 24-year old). Not to mention the countless times where people who have worked with him have gushed about how he's such a gentleman, warm, polite and nice to everyone. He's also incredibly supportive of the other NCT members. In short, Jaehyun is a good and maybe a bit messy, awkward, overly competitive and clumsy boy. :joy:

I haven't even talked about his vocal and dance skills, and I probably don't need to as the101 has wonderfully covered that above already. I would just like to add that he is absolutely passionate about music, too. You can tell just by from watching his relay cams/vlogs.

My wish for my ult is for him to be able to express his talent through music. Of course getting a lead role in a drama and brand deals can be amazing and can help a lot with gp recognition, give him more opportunities in the future and therefore benefit both him and NCT. But to see get his recognition as an artist, rather than a pretty boy from NCT who plays lead in XYZ drama, would be the cherry on top... I want to be able to hear his voice in a solo album, an album that he actively participated in and that showcases everything he's good at. And for his music career to be prosper and successful.

Of course that is MY selfish wish for him. Ultimately, I just want him to do what HE wants. If he doesn't want to release music as Jaehyun and wants to focus on acting, or wants to become an athlete, or songwriter, or farmer I will support him just as much.

As a Jaehyun stan I'm used to other people assuming I bias him for his looks. While it is true that he's gorgeous, and that I hype his visuals a lot in this forum , I stan him because of all (and maybe more) that was mentioned above. And that, paired up with his looks, makes him that much more beautiful to me.

To end this long text I'd just like to share the video that made me realize for the first time that Jaehyun is a very special boy.
