Did you hear about ITZY Yuna outfit controversy at MuBank?

  • What is your opinion? 42

    1. JYPE stylists shouldn't put minors in adult outfits with leater, PVC, ripped tights, miniskirts and cleavage (when cleavage on adult women is still taboo in SK) (20) 48%
    2. I like it (17) 40%
    3. I don't have an opinion (5) 12%
    4. This is gross (2) 5%

Just for starters, she did nothing wrong and she isn't the one who should be criticized, it's JYPE for weirdly sexualizing their minor GG members and putting them in outfits for adults.

  • let's not overreact

in my country in many situations she would be already treated as adult

and she's just like 3 months from being one in real-life

I think those who criticize are either 'old-minded' or are from USA when you are adult when you are 21 lol

In the USA you are an adult when you are 18. The legal drinking age is 21 though.

What I don't like about these comments is that most of them are "I haven't listened to the song but .....". It sounds very uninformed about the group to me and just overreacting to internet "noise".

I left my heart in LA again. Please continue taking good care of it.

  • I like the fit itself but I have to admit that having it on a minor is extremely questionable as mentioned in the poll with grown women often looked down upon for wearing stuff like this. However, I'd like to see this energy towards all minors not just ones from huge groups. Styling of minors with super short skirts etc is heavily normalized in kpop, and JYP has done this in the past and still gets away with it. Like there are just no repercussions. I do have to wonder though, if the intentions of this controversy is to discuss the serious implications that these types of outfits have on the industry and pop culture in general or if this was some kind of attempt at a drag which was misguided.

    I agree with you 100%.

I'm never gonna forgive MLD entertainment for what they put Momoland through.

  • You would think we were able to see her panties or something. I think her outfit is perfectly fine, a lot of teen dress themselves like this.

    But the point is that

    a) she didn't dress herself like this

    b) cleavage is somewhat of a taboo in South Korea still

    c) she kept covering her chest up with her hands so does that seem like she was comfortable to you

    d) she is a minor and she's going to be oversexualized by creeps and I'm not okay with that

Well, we better not listen to any young girls doing pop songs at the moment, if that's the issue. It's unfortunate she was uncomfortable tho :(

Or we decide as a whole to protect said young girls from creepy people both in the industry and out by rebelling against the overt sexualization

i mean noone bats an eye at Hyuna wearing that type of shit....they are idols, not fucking nuns

  • Honestly i don't see the problem

the holes in the tights : Yuna already perform wearing a short or a skirt, we see as much skin with this tights than we saw in the past when she was wearing just a short, so i don't understand why suddenly it's sexual but nobody had a problems in the past with her showing her legs

and about the dress, Yuna already appear on red carpet with a dress pretty similar but nobody find that it was too sexual on the red carpet for her so i don't really see why it's suddenly too sexual

  • In Korea if you are not 20 you are a minor, therefore we should follow that rule and not our own countries (even tho she is 18 internationally).

In my opinion, too much, but then again she always got those kinds of outfits.

Not the first time, not the first group, not the first company.

I find it tacky but meh, what do I know.

they mean korean age when they say 20, i believe. when it's the new year and your international age is 20, your age changes from 19 to 20.

I thought Yuna was 16, not 18. 18 isn't a minor, it does seem very sus that they may have been giving her these kind of outfits before she was 18 (which is disgusting in my opinion)

  • literally my point, its already normalized so I don't feel like these people actually care about minors they just wanna drag Yuna :wellr: if they cared they'd have this energy for everyone

i would understand that they consider that she's sexualize here if she never wear this type of outfit in the past and she's still a minor

but she's been performing bare legs etc.. for 2 years now and people never had a problem and one day she showing up with some holes in her tights and they find this sexual

    :itzy2::itzy2:

    nah, we should rebel :pepe-joy:

I'm sorry but as a woman I am not disrespecting my fight but rather being realistic... We could mass email the company for a whole month and nothing would be done... Maybe if there was indeed an issue, who knows?

It's easy for non stans to say we should fight but the only fighting possible is boycott... :pepenomad:

she's 19 right now in Korean age and will be 20 in 1st of Jan 2022.

    Int she's 18.

  • LMAOOO right? I was thinking back to all her outfits and wondered if they chose this outfit to get angry over because of the fabric or length, but then I remembered this outfit

    ITZY_Wannabe_MV_Yuna_2-2000x1125.jpg

they had no problem with this one even though it was super short and she was already sexualized, they don't care about protecting Yuna from creeps or changing how things work, they care about making her look bad

and what's even more funny is that during wannabe she was even younger than she is right now '-'

idk maybe people are sexualizing stockings...in that stockings are like lingerie and shit u wear when ur about to get boned, but bare legs don't have that affect. I mean look at half of porn videos, girls are wearing thigh high stockings. Its the type of visual that pops a wheelie in your jeans like billy, and kpop companies knows that.

  • All of this fuss because she is wearing a stocking lmao she is 18 in 3 months like there are 14 yo around me who wear way worse than that. Just some jobless unties who their hobby is to complain and nit pick about the tiniest most useless things.

i mean- there are literal 14 year old IDOLS wearing very suggestive clothing and I saw a girl who was about 4 dance to Touch My Body (I know it's meant to be cute, but I can't just shake off the feeling). Some of these people were witnessing one of Produce 101's producers saying it was "healthy porn for men who like nieces", and if they didn't think or find anything wrong with that, then that's shameful. I think all those other times where idols were in uncomfortable and inappropriate clothes while they weren't even LEGAL internationally yet and when people didn't react, I think it's because they're used to it. A lot of times, people don't think anything while watching the video, but sometimes they realise and think "Oh wow, this is so wrong.".

Yuna is currently 18 internationally, but not legal yet in Korea. She's 19 in Korea, and she'll only become 20 when it's New Year, when everyone becomes a year older. That's why people are mad.

  • honestly i thought she just looked cute, i didn't see anything inherently sexual. i mean the tights are kinda ugly but she wore it in the mv so whatever.

i think the only thing that matters is that she was uncomfortable and kept covering her chest, that's what bothers me. regardless if it's too low cut to be age appropriate, she didn't feel comfortable in it :nob:

  • NOOOO :pepe-sad::pepe-sad::pepe-sad: dont be funny on this thread bro but that saddest part is that this is prob true

but stockings arent even innately sexual, like school age kids wear stockings and knee high socks. then again school uniforms are also fetishized in every culture, its just weird to drag Yuna for something they don't even care about as a collective. if they did then the whole way in which stylists dress young idols would change, since Yuna is almost an adult this isn't even the worst case

there's quite a bit of difference between knee high socks and thigh high stockings in terms of sexual power

No, it doesn't. Ryujin and Yeji are wearing tigher, shorter stuff... And no, not every woman wearing stockings is trying to record porn.

Not every woman wearing stockings is trying to record porn, but most woman wearing thigh high stockings are trying to look more sexually appealing (or at least their company is trying to)

I don't think she's uncomfortable, if you see idols covering their chest, it's usually to show respect, as it's disrespectful to show cleavage at certain times in Korea. (lmao "times" has a link,

I don't care about pd101 and their groups, we are talking about Yuna here, so I am not sure why are you bringing this now... Minors have been sexualized since the ancients of ages it's nothing new.

I am not sure where are you from or whats your culture and beliefs, where I am from what she is wearing is completely normal everyday thing lol.

  • this looks like a competition for biggest and brightest forehead

I mean- it's a stage outfit. It does look innocent, but probably not when they're actuallly doing the dance. The clothes are meant to connect with the lyrics and the dance moves, and if you look at the lyrics and the dance moves, they're definitely... not the most PG thing.

  • I don't know what grown ass adult would find these people sexy and attractive, they're just cute. Also, it just pains me. Pedophiles have seriously got a screw in their heads or something.
