why? here are some good points:

• they started a new wave of feminine girlcrush that previously died after 4minute and 2ne1 passed away. new wave with a feminine, more digestible style.
  other 4th gen groups that followed this wave include itzy, everglow, gidle, aespa etc.
• debuted alongside other 4th gen groups such as wjsn, astro, dreamcatcher, golden child etc
• they were the "younger sibling" group to debut under yg for yg's hit gg winner and bg ikon
• first group to include hidden members (teddy and now hank)
• if tvxq is 2rd gen and the average gen lasts ~6 years, tvxq debuted in 2004, 3rd gen started 2010, 4th gen started 2016 and bp debuted in 2016
• if we wanna push it and say rain is 2nd gen, he debuted in 1998, that gives each generation 9 years till bp starts the 4th gen.
• bp was a pioneer of the streaming era, esp youtube streaming (also bts is 1st gen too, wait for that thread~)

so from the above points we can conclude:
a. irene is old af omg tzuyu could call her mom.

b. by default, bp is biggest gg and 3rd gen has died.

c. ioi was 5th gen and izone was 6th gen

d. twice was actually 2nd gen, will explain later

e. all the "4th gen ggs" except bp flopped
