Can you tell what someone is like just based on their comments on a kpop site?

Well there's a reason why the term "online persona" exists. It's very easy to fake your identity as an anonymous person. Might as well act like a completely different human being than what they are like irl. You can draw conclusions about someone's personality based on their online interactions, but it's better to be aware that not everyone is gonna be honest about their real feelings online.
-
You can absolutely tell what someone is like just by the words they type, those with misogynistic and backwards views on the world can’t help but show their incel mentality and it’s something they feel proud of. They’ll always say something along the lines of ‘they don’t follow or go along with the crowd’ aka the sane people with morals and that makes them feel special.

Yesterday on another thread, we could spot the misogynistic and fake feminist users. I don’t know if that’s their whole personality in the physical world but in this social world, that’s what I will consider them as when I see them
I'm still mad that thread got closed I feel sorry for other users who didn't read it and don't know the type of comments that were said. Disgusting really

The main page has a similar thread and we can see the same behaviour from the same users there too.

i find that people are more honest on these sites than irl soooo
defo agree the internet brings out the worst in some people and tbh if they act like trash online then they're probably like that in real life but they just hide it
-
Did you see the comments?

It’s very easy to spot the bigots. In fact bigotry is displayed easily when ppl are anonymous. It’s harder in IRL cuz people mask it better.
However the other way is harder. It’s hard to pass positive judgement on ppl cuz there are a lot of keyboard warriors.
So basically it’s easy to identify the bad apples but more difficult to make judgment on people’s goodness or intentions.

Only half true, I think.
There have been enough examples in K-pop where comments and actions of for example idols have been taken so far out of context or onesidedly exaggerated, that those idols were painted as sheer villains by witch hunting netizen (and ifan) lynch mobs.
As an example of how someone's comments online can also be distorted and misused by others to villainize or demonize that person, and not as a fair, true representation of that person at all.

That’s your inability to spot the truth maybe. Or if you’re swayed by others opinion.
I’m talking about my personal interaction with ppl not second hand accounts.

Ah, my mistake. I thought it was meant in general.

Varies. But sometimes yeah, especially the most toxic and morally jaded users on here.
But as someone mentioned on here, the goody two shoes can also just be putting up a front so- it's easy to fabricate things online I imagine.
I have yet to come across a goody two shoes user who is always overly fake nice lmao I need to start paying attention more

Yeah… and you can spot bullies pretty well too !
Anyway apart from that, what’s written can easily be misinterpreted or distorted especially in a heated debate! It’s even worse for people who have to debate in a different language than what they usually use and got to find the better fitting words.
Also half of the information while communicating through text not is gone missing.
Also what people most likely get to see a glimpse of is the mindset of someone, and since everyone has a different upbringing, education etc… opinions won’t always be the same. Intentions mean more than words. Is someone saying something out of malice or lack of knowledge towards a specific topic or just have a different mindset due to their upbringing? Are their intentions bad ? You can’t really tell someone’s intentions. Anyway You can change a mindset with good discussions, but not really a personality.
So I personally judge people on the internet based on how they engage with others, are they respectful or do they have a tendency to be hostile and entitled. I think how someone treats others says more about their personality than typed words.

nah, some thread about Seungri got heated and some people started fighting with each other.
Some were using some really nasty words.
It got handled eventually.
