I actually strongly disagree with City here on taking all the releases it in chronological order. I think you should take each unit in its chronological order. If you stay with each specific unit first, you can really get a feel of how each unit is different. I think jumping around between the units can be very confusing to a noob trying to get a handle on the differences. Once you have completed all the units, then go to the full unit albums - now that you are familiar with the units and their musical differences, it will become clearer when you listen to the NCT full unit albums, as well as highlighting how the NCT U rotational groups combine the best of the different units.

I also think by taking each unit on its own, you can understand the development of its musical sound. If you are jumping around between units, I don't think there is as a clear of a through line on development (particularly with a group like NCT Dream).

Alternatively, you could take the NCT U releases first to get a feel for the overall flavor of NCT, then go into each unit in chronological order (Dream, 127, WayV). The same concept - getting a feel for the assortment, then honing in on the differences between units.
