Honestly, I think we need to start talking about Kpop's globalization. Kpop is not going to stay in Korea forever. The only thing I am worried about is how the GP and Kpop fans will handle this. A lot of people are already hating and they haven't even started yet. Who knows, they said NCT was SM's worst failure look where they are now.
Too many boy groups.. girl groups fair better in the west as far as the GP
Europe does not have the active fandom culture America has (let alone East Asia), there is also a lot more variety of languages, cultures and everything depending on the country. Europe can be okay for touring and that's it but the demand and potential isn't as big as the US tbh. I'd be surprised to see a K-Pop company trying something like that on Europe rn.
It would require kpop companies to realize that other races besides white and asian and other body types besides skinny exist so I doubt it will work.
It would also take them to realize that the overly manufactured and PG and micromanaged image also doesn’t work with the GP.. especially the teen sand pre-teen demographic.
One of the reasons why BTS, Blackpink and in some capacity Bigbang was so well respected and had mass appeal is because they come across as more authentic.
Honestly there are so many things about the kpop system that just doesn’t translate well globally
I don't really know how to explain how I feel but as an kpop fan from back in the days where kpop was just in Korea and Japan, I don't really want it to keep spreading. How it is right now is strange to me. Maybe I'm just being selfish and not wanting to share kpop with others. I don't even really know why I don't want it to be a global thing. It's hard to explain it, but I just don't
It depends on the music they make if it will exist but I may or may not be into whoever debuts.
If you take k-pop out of Korea, it's not k-pop anymore, it's just pop. Girl groups and boy groups are nothing new in Europe and America; they just fell out of relevance at some point. Maybe the global rise of k-pop is gonna bring a revival of this concept but it won't be k-pop, even in the case these new groups are produced/managed by Korean companies.
