Unpopular opinion, but I think Lsf has a bigger chance of snatching the top 3 position from NJ in this comeback

  • Both groups are dropping songs this March. Lsf's international performances improved a lot last year, and with people moving on from the vocal controversy, I think they’ll do well in Korea too. They have Hybe’s full support, so there’s no way Bsh will let them flop. The marketing budget for this comeback will be massive to ensure it’s a hit. They have everything going for them. What could possibly go wrong? Nothing.

Meanwhile, NJ lost all their privileges from big backing, unlimited budget, company stan support, and even their group name and discography for now. They have fans, but not a massive guaranteed-success fanbase like Bts or Bp. Like this feud happened before they can even celebrated their 2nd year anniversary. Their main strength now is in Korea and Japan, but even last year, despite a strong start on Melon (if I'm not mistaken), their longevity wasn’t great. None of their new songs stand out like Ditto, Hype Boy, and Super Shy.

Internationally, their results have declined, and losing company stan support hurt them A LOT. Their old catalog kept them on top of Spotify overall, but they’ve lost that too. So, if this new songs performance is as weak as their previous cb, they basically have no back up to help them maintain their position and streams anymore. They’re basically starting from scratch.

Honestly, NJ is in a tougher spot to maintain their status as the top gg, while Lsf has nowhere to go but up. Without competition in Hybe anymore, Lsf has all the support, attention and resources, while NJ now has to prove if their previous success was really their own or mainly contributed by Hybe’s backing.

  • It would be interesting to see! I'm just hoping for some sincere music with substance and story.

Personally, that silly top 3 or top 5 is opinion based. Charting is biased. Sales can be manipulated. Etc.

If LSFM delivers music that I love, I'd be happy :ok-bee:

  • what could go wrong for lsf? gp has moved on, simply as that :meme-stare: .

no hybe payola or support could save that group in sk anymore. they're the national embarrassment gg, bang's princesses, the privileged step sisters. and most importantly, their vocal controversies made the gp lose interest in them as a group and in their music. plus the right wing japanese controversies.

On the other hand, njz has massive gp support, not only their fandom who are very loyal btw. everybody is exited about their first album. (well except some hybe maids, but they aren't as impactful as they think they are lol)

also, we don't know about their new agency, if they're legit, they could give proper support and promotion to the girls in the west. much better than hybe ever did.

if so, they're bound to kill this year!!l NJ1 is gonna be legendary :pepe-cowboy: .

  • I didn't even read the OP, because the thread title alone was enough for me to :meme-kek:

This is like sports fans inserting their favorite athlete into the GOAT conversation, and thinking they get to have their chosen athlete just leapfrog all the other all-time greats and enter a discussion where they're the second greatest player at worst

    No.

LSF is a top 5 group and they are firmly in 5th right now. If they move up, they still have a long, long, looooooong way to go before they can even dream of touching NJZ, who were exponentially the most successful girl group when they were still under HYBE.

This isn't an unpopular opinion; it's just plain wrong.

  • Without competition in Hybe anymore, Lsf has all the support, attention and resources, while NJ now has to prove if their previous success was really their own or mainly contributed by Hybe’s backing.

    1 - Illit's fans in shamble.

2 - Why do you speak like BHS didn't participate on most if not all their most pushed tracks? Do you think he just passed on making more money from royalties just because and will go full throttle now? That it was by choice that LSF previously failed to unseat IVE and lack of motivation on BHS's part that let Aespa come back to the scene as well as they had?

    3 - Wait, this is a set-up thread isn't it?

  • We will see. I think it's better to not overestimate a comeback before it even happens because we simply don't know how it will go. Speculating can be fun but if you think too highly of a group then the dissapointment will be too big to bear when something bad happens. If they do good, great. If they don't, well, there is always next time. And the comeback will be a success even if they aren't top1, only top something.

  • If you really wished the best for LSFM you'd be talking about hoping for a big comeback, to reach #1 in charts, to improve album sales... And not about snatching anyone's position. That's when the true intention of the thread becomes obvious.

  • Top 3 is hard for them because they have to improve how the Korean public feels about them. They're strong outside of Korea but they still need to recover after last year. I think they have what it takes but I don't see them unseating Aespa, Ive, or NJZ.

  • BSH has been their executive producer since debut, but still it wasn't lesserafim who got multiple songs inside TTH week after their debut and consistently has been getting huge playlisting since then. They're never getting newjeans special, and we don't even care. Just hoping for a peaceful comeback.

  • that's why I need an answer to this from tokkis, I need to know whether or not Baemons short reign as 5th gen leader is in danger. Then again, there will be a period where I can say Baemon is bigger than NJZ :pepe-devil:

When they redebut media outlets, variety show MC and NJZ themselves will almost certainly refer to them as a new 5th gen group when they bring it up at all, rather then get caught in the legal red tape of insisting they are still the same group ADOR/Hybe holds the rights for and eventually fans will follow. so yes, Baemons days as 5th gen leader are definitely numbered.
