People have become so cynical about K-pop
-

-
kpop fans are captivity of negativity
-
-
We're living in a cynical time
Maybe there needs to be more enforcement actions against people going stupidly negative in threads that should be positive (yeah, I know I'm guilty of that sometimes).
Good example is the Zen thread, which is being camped by chuckleheads that already said they don't like the song and now just want to flap gums in that thread and stink it up.
-
No. I stay petty so I don't have to get petty! And I will be in COMBAT MODE until Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein are free from those tyrannical egomaniacs trying their best to run HYBE into the ground.
Do you know the year Bunnies just had? And we've gotten stronger and tighter as a fandom despite the neverending avalanche of bullshit people have tried to bury us in.
NAY I SAY
The fact I and other Bunnies can maintain some modicum of positivity, in spite of these extremely adverse and negative circumstances, should be applauded.
-
Nobody said you can't enjoy your faves, you just need to ignore the negativity, it's that simple!
My job is literally criticizing movies, shows, and music. That's why I do it, but fair criticism isn't equals with hate.
Being a delulu is just as bad as hating something for no reason, because delulu fans, can't accept valid criticism, or different opinions, and they say, every song that their faves release is a SOTY.
Also, I prefer to disagree with people, because what's the point of living and doing things if we all on the same page? Arguing with each other is not the same as insult someone for fun.
I think this is what Kpop fans should learn, and don't be afraid if you have a different opinion, just because some crazy fandoms will hunt you down. The funny thing is, people who say: "Oh, that person is a hater." They do the same with others, and the worst part is that most of them can't even write a real sentence.

Oh David, my only issue with you comes down to "there's a time and a place".
I understand it may be part of your work and clearly something you are passionate about, but not all of us want to have a critical discussion about production/vocals/dancing anytime we post a clip of our faves.
I actually agree to an extent about being delulu though. I often see you lamenting about how kpop fans say "live vocals" when it is CLEARLY not live, and this actually annoys me too.
-

I hardly speak about vocals, let alone dancing, LOL! 😂
I only write long essays about why I like or don't like a song or an album. When I do talk about vocals, it's only happening if people make threads about it, or if I'm frustrated with XYZ company, especially if I like a group. Babymon for example.
Also, AKP is the "Time and place" for things like this. It's called Forum for reason, and never said people have to agree with me if I'm only stating my opinions. I don't write reviews to trash something or ruin someone else's fun. I don't think that should be possible anyway if you love something for real. I love so many songs, movies etc that most people hate, but negative shit doesn't change my opinion.
For example: The Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck is one of the most hated movie, especially in the Comic Book fandom, but I still like it, even tho, I know it's not a good movie.😂
I don't really have a problem with fans who think their faves singing live all the time, they're just clueless, and don't know anything about these things. What's worse is when their faves release a song, and they say it's a SOTY, no one ever done this, they're the best, and other ridiculous over the top phrases. But I only have a problem with these things when people say this under a different post that's not related to their faves.
I mean, I said the same about "Solar - BLUES", it's a SOTY of 2024, and I'm probably wrong, because the song is carried by her performance, but production wise, "Empty" is a better song on her new album.

I'm going to give a short and sweet version of what Tru said
Nobody gives a fuck about your whiny shit negative opinions in threads where we are trying to have fun and appreciate something. Piss off.
Tatty copped a ban, partly for stinking up appreciation threads with negativity. I genuinely wish you got one too until you get the message.

Negativity is part of life. What fans of the same group, same idol say to each other when they disagree on something that seems insignificant makes AKP look like the UN.

You just proved my point, thank you!
This platform is called ALLKPOP FORUM, not BLACKPINK FORUM! Ergo we can talk about anything, related to Kpop and yes, we can criticize anything we want.
Just because me or someone else have a different opinion, doesn't mean you can't enjoy something. If one negative opinion can ruin your fun, you don't love that thing in the first place. Grow up, please!
Lastly: I don't give a shit if I get a ban for having a real opinion, and not being a crazy delulu fanboy who gives 10/10 to everything. I criticize my own faves as well, not just yours, but people like you, only care about the negatives. Even tho, I praised your faves multiple times last year!
-
true
but I blame the kpop industry being so competitive and hate campaigns, fans kinda become jaded
-
You're right. People honestly need to be less serious about certain things.
Even I don't even take myself seriously, yet you have some people quoting and attacking me like I stole their cat even though all I said was the most basic statement ever that is mostly meant to tease.
I only write long essays
Yeah we can tell
Learn to keep it short and sweet. Not everyone is in the mood to read some long essay about how the sun rises every morning.

David I swear to christ you are just being intentionally obtuse. If you are gonna continue to maintain this stance that's fine, but I'm gonna continue to call you out when you go sticking your nose in threads it doesn't belong in.
In short:
Shut up, David.

I agree and I dislike it, the need for us to play referee in what should be a tame conversation, is something that has to happen frequently nowadays. I want people to peacefully communicate, I know in gen 2 we had some toxicness but it was the minority of fans not the majority. We also did not obsess over charts and stuff, we were just excited our groups or soloists were putting out more music.
Maybe you and I are just getting old, we are not hip to the trend of being toxic and not knowing how to communicate effectively.
-
I think I understand the point of OP's opinion. Fans want a space where they only talk about their groups and positivity, but speaking for myself, I really appreciate a more controversial approach to certain topics. I even sometimes enjoy reading trolls. There are some people I really like for that reason, and to be honest, I wouldn't spend as much time on AKP if those users didn’t exist. I don't know much about this place, maybe AKP has never been meant for situations like this, like I said, I don't know I'm a new user, so I just want to share my perspective on it.

Oh goodness gracious David, no one is saying you cannot have an opinion. They are trying to communicate that sometimes you are overly cynical and can be critical of things that have no effect on the music or the artists' performances. Sometimes you are overly critical of those who enjoy music of an artist who you view not being up to your par, and that they are upset when you join a positive intended thread and start nitpicking.
This was supposed to be a thread for calm discussion as to if people agree it or disagree has become an overly negative space, and you could have answered that, but you instead started an argument because of it? Arguing that people are saying people cannot have differing opinions?
That makes not a single lick of sense. No one was saying people should not be allowed to have opinions, they were saying that some sort of emotional regulation is needed when communicating. Instead of ramping them up to 150 mph in 60 seconds. That people need to read what they are saying before they post something and to think "do I really need to say this?" " Am I going to feel good about this or is this going to just continue the feeling of negativity?" when thinking of being pessimistic and angry for whatever reason.
There should not have been a bunch of arguing in here. It could have been a peaceful thread of discussion about how the social norms and the atmosphere has changed over the years. That was the intended purpose.
Before you think I am singling you out, I have gone to bat for you multiple times and I have also given Tatiana and others this same spiel of how they need to think before they say things.

To answer your question,
As long as it does not cross lines, we generally let innocent trolling go, unless it gets too excessive and a user's posts are nothing but trolling.
Differing opinions are okay, 10,000%, it becomes a problem when someone cannot communicate their view point without getting hostile and volatile. There are ways to express things and opinions without getting worked up.

You don't have one negative opinion, you have monster paragraphs and you fucking CAMP the thread, constantly updating more of your negative shit until a thread for fans derails because you can't fucking help yourself.
The worst part is, besides your opinions being long winded and shit, is that they are boring. You're a bore.
Yeah it's a forum, but like others said, you aren't ever reading the room. If it's a thread where fans are happily enjoying something, do you ever stop to think "will anyone care for my continued, long winded, negative shit in here?" If you think that, know the answer is No and continue anyway, you're essentially being a troll. -
-
The problem isn't the criticism although I do agree some only see criticism but imo there's issue with nuance and intention.
1) nuance: people think in black and white, you can really dislike a song but it's crazy how strong you can see those opinions everywhere and how few reasons are put.
2) intention: there's a race for likes and views and attention, on social media or on here so it's become hell to separate actual criticism to engagement harm and to hate. So much that on the other hand sometimes you aren't even "allowed" to have nuances to your appreciation of the song, like you're a fake fan or a traitor even if your intentions are 'pure'

Yeah we can tell
Learn to keep it short and sweet. Not everyone is in the mood to read some long essay about how the sun rises every morning.
Sure, I will say: "This is a crap song." Wonder how certain fandoms would feel, after reading that short and sweet review.
I'm not forcing anyone to read my long essays, and no one have to reply either. People say, if you don't like something, just move on, and don't talk about it. Sure. Why people can't do the same when they read a negative opinion? Not HATE, just a NEGATIVE OPINION!
The fact is, people don't care about positive opinions. They love to read hate posts all on social media platforms. Why? Because those are the posts that bring them more attention.
At least, I can write real sentences with real opinions and fair analysis.

Show me a rule in AKP's rule book that says, I can't write a comment in threads without being tagged.

Stop whining!

I have to disagree, sorry. Creating a thread about a topic like this actually creates more negativity. Nothing has changed, Kpop was toxic back in the days, and it's even more toxic now, thanks to SNS and streaming.

Op isn't saying there shouldn't be discussions but that it's too focused on hate and criticism that's much too often not backed by arguments. Also you can discuss while praising just like you can discuss while criticizing. I think one of the points is that it's overwhelmingly negative and I get that. It's a vicious circle.
But it's not bound to change considering
A) it gets traffic
B) a few people here consider that without drama and trolling, the forum is boring
I used to go to that forum to have discussions that I couldn't have on Twitter, not even controversial, just something a little less superficial and more nuanced but it's harder now imo

I don't care what others care about. I want to state my own opinion, and that's all. My comments are never meant to disrespect or ruin the fun of anyone. It's just MY OPINION! It's not my fault that most of you take it too seriously.
Again, you just proved my point with this comment as well. This is the second time you're insulting me, while I didn't do that with you, didn't even mention you, but yeah, I'm the problem.
Like I said, if you guys hate my negative opinions, and want to argue me with me, even insult me for it, why are you ignoring me when I'm praising your faves? Oh, I know why. It's not as entertaining to talk about positive things.

I discuss a lot, but as op is saying there is a time and place for it. When I do appreciation threads for my faves or any other idol, song, group I like I purposely put APPRECIATION THREAD in the title bc it's not something up to discussion, it's just a thread for smiles, but even in this threads some went negative over me praising someone, something, anything that they don't like ??
Nobody here is a kid, we know when a thread is just for fun, for fandoms to interact nicely so why go there to be the negative loser bc you hate that idol?? And yes, after countless times I consider it hate. Some even have the audacity to use fandoms taglist, something that was created with the purpose of making it easier for fans to enjoy news about their faves, and are now using it to share their dumb threads??
Discussion will always happen, but there are several threads for it so if you can't control your petty attitude in nice threads, then this isn't a them problem, it's just you and yourself!

But if it is an appreciation thread started by the fandom for the fandom, then regardless of what artist it is, if you don't like the artist, then that thread is clearly not for you. It's not something you should want to go in and destroy the atmosphere of. When there are other threads that are not specifically tagged for positivity or appreciation then that's fine to have an opinion but if it is clearly not something intended for that type of discussion, you need to be respectful to that. And as someone else said I don't remember who, "read the room" before kicking the door down to an room you don't belong in as you're not contributing to the actual topic of the thread.

I would never say something like that WITHOUT actually explaining why I said it. See? This is why a "Short and sweet" opinions means nothing.
I mean, just look at what Selfmate say every "BOP or FLOP" thread: "I gave it a listen, and it's not bad" 🤣
I don't want to waste my time to write a simple sentence like this. If I want to trash a song, at least I will write a decent review about why I think it's trash, so the fans of the artist can't blame me for not having a real opinion.
BTW, saying "The song is trash" or saying "The song is not to my liking" is literally the same thing, you're just saying it nicely, and I don't like fake people. If I can't say what I actually think, there's no point saying anything.

Shut up, David.
It's not that deep.
Your presence on the forum can literally be entirely summed up by WHO ASKED?
It's also not what you say but when, where and how you say it.
You really can't read the room at all, and the funny thing is that you seem to actually be oblivious to it.

Well, I love music, I listen to a lot of music, and most of the time when I write something about an artist or a group that I don't follow, I still heard their music or watched their performance, so I have an opinion about it. Just because I have a different opinion, doesn't mean other people have to stop appreciating their faves. Music is not just a hobby for me, that's why I'm different.
For example, I like Babymonster, I wouldn't say I'm a fan, BUT I appreciate their talent, and I'm very frustrated with how YG treat them, especially Ahyeon. Their fans love to say, I should ignore them and stop talking about them. Why? I see a LOT of Monstiez and yes, even BLINKS hating on YG, so why can't I do the same? Just because I'm not in their fandom, but I like some of their music? Makes no sense. Especially, because I was YG group stan way before most of them. And it's not like I only write negative things. I can't even count how many times I praised Babymonster, I praised Rose for her solo comeback, I pretty much hate every Lisa song, but always said she's a talented dancer, and technically I liked her "Kiss Me" (remix) song as well. As for Jennie, I was one of the few people who actually praised Jennie for doing something different with that "Slow Motion" collab song, even BLINKS hated it.
But as usual, people only care about the negatives and forget about the positive things I've said. Or worse, they didn't even read it, because they see one negative sentence and don't read the rest! Especially if it's a long essay like this one.
Again, tell me if I'm wrong, but this is a free world, and this is a free Forum, there are no rules about in which thread we can write a comment! I've seen the same people trolling other fans and their faves, writing ridiculous things and insulting others, but funny enough, no one cares about that, because they're in the same fandom.
Let's be clear here:
99% of the time, my goal isn't to insult anyone or trash their faves, even if people think that, because we live in a mad society where people think a different opinion means, you're a hater or jealous! Meanwhile, the same people hating on others. I'm fed up with this hypocrisy!
