I became a fan around 14 years ago so mostly if someone would play me songs like Clap Your Hands, Mr. Simple, Fantastic Baby, Gee, Oh!, ... and so on
Third generation easily. That was peak K-Pop for me, where I felt like I was at my most passionate and before I started getting jaded and worn down by some of the downsides to being so enthralled and embedded within K-Pop stan culture
I only got into kpop in 2017, but i think 2nd gen was the best because everything seemed more creative, risky and fun
2nd generation had by far the best variety content. Today's offerings are PATHETIC in comparison, and idols from even the same label interact way less than they used to
Invincible Youth was incredible
Real OGs know
2nd gen, which is when I got into kpop. The variety back then was so fun and the groups often did collabs together, without worrying about scandals. Maybe some things were worse than now, but there was a lot of great things too.
I also sometimes wish I could go back in time to 2015, when I first learned about Twice but didn't become their fan because of fan wars between Once and Sone. I feel like I missed so much because of that. I have a different mindset now but back then the big fan wars really discouraged me.
i first got into kpop in january of 2018. so 2018-2019 is very nostalgic for me.
i am also very nostalgic for 2021/2022 kpop. there were such good songs coming out
I was too late to catch the 2nd gen train but it seems I would have had a lot of nostalgia for it.
I entirely miss the 3rd gen. It was my "kpop childhood" i.e. the rosy years I got to learn about kpop. People were keen to extinguish fights, scandals were not used as weapons in an argument except for true scandals, and I still had time to full commit to being a fan.
Dating rurmors were met with sounding of ships sailing, rather than vicious bombardments to sink said ships too.
A lot of people would ditch their idol just because they were stuck with a bad company too. It also seemed that no matter how well the fans lobbied or organized, nothing of their efforts would come to fruition. That and it seems like there was no effort made on the fans part when some crises happened. I will not give examples; how I perceive things may not have been how you perceived things and this has a lot of potential to be a trigger topic for arguments, even if it isn't a hot-button topic. .
I got into kpop with the 4th gen but i realize that alot of the music i really enjoy in Kpop comes from the 2nd and 3rd gens. mostly the 2nd. I really enjoy the sounds of infinite, beast, myname, u-kiss...then the older 3rd gen like cross gene, vixx, boys republic, etc. those types of music from the bg's really makes me miss it.
2010 was the best year for Kpop for me personally.
But I'll extend it from the end of 2009 to early 2011.
f(x) debut and Pinocchio, arguably SUJU and SNSD best eras, all of the BigBang projects in 2010 were top tier 2NE1 with To Anyone. Block B debut.
The only thing that would of made it perfect was finding the time to take a trip for the SM Town Live tour, but I got busy at work.
