Since when Rosé was a nugu before APT?

    Ever since APT release I keep seeing non blinks say how they are surprised Rosé is doing so well when she was actually the "nuguest" in BP, a flop, a nothing, but since when???? Just to shade the others pinks that are doing better internationally than all your faves :p ...


    Rosé broke so many records with OTG and mind you, if Money by Lisa hadn't gone viral, after Flower, OTG would be the most successful pink solo ww. And she did amazing on kr charts too! She literally has such a big and dedicated fandom that till this day her album sells the most if compared to the others pinks. She debuted the highest in the hot100 and just OOTG and APT debuted higher now. She was the first k female soloist to get +20M monthly listeners on Spotify.

    Her album is already at +900k sales.. people talk about OTG views on yt and even Spotify streams :skull: when OTG has +478M streams while Gone has +362M streams like ? What is nugu here?

    Sure APT is insane and something that it'll be difficult to top (not like she needs, it's her song, the success is all her anyways), but Rosé was never a flop and her career was never in danger, she'll keep doing fine like she did since OTG!

    I think you pretty much nailed it on the head in the other thread. This song would still exist without Bruno Mars and it would still be a catchy hit song even if it was just Rose.


    Obviously having Bruno on the track gives it a boost no matter what, but it's impossible to say how much. I still think that the song would've reached top 5 spotify global and be performing the same or similarly in SK even without Bruno. I mean people are acting as if the pinks haven't already had huge solo success before this lol.

    Within the BP 4, Rose relatively was the less influential. That is the perception and there are many ranks and ratings over the years where the top 11 positions will be occupied by BTS 7 + BP 4, and Rose will mostly be > 7


    All BP songs, solos do well, but they were largely driven by the huge fandom of BLINKS.

    APT has definitely succeeded beyond the fandom and is true viral hit.


    A combination of that, a viral hit coming from the less influential member of the BP, causes people to be surprised.


    A viral hit from Jennie or Jisoo might be taken more in stride, but Rose was unexpected.


    But that is the best part, isn't it. To take people by surprise and succeed fantastically, rather than be expected to succeed and do so.

    she wasn't nugu, but it's pretty clear that Bruno is the reason APT topped the charts. Not saying APT wouldn't have done good, but let's not be delulu. OTG did hit 70, but it fell off the charts after 1 week.

    Actually music wise Jisoo is the one people would be surprised, not Rosé. Flower was huge and even blinks didn't believe how huge it became in Asia and SK, her streams are on pair with the others pinks already.

    Rosé was always the most anticipated and while it's amazing seeing how yeah, Apt is bigger than kpop, it's not that surprising knowing it's from Rosé and her brilliant mind!

    Jisoo is extremely popular in S.Korea, while Jennie internationally and Lisa in SEA.

    It was only Rose who was kind of in-between, generally popular but not super popular in any market compared to mates.

    Also she was a vocalist in the group not focused on vocals.


    While OTG did well (all BP songs will do well, given the fandom), she was caught between IU and the Rollin craze. Not a good situation.


    So I am very glad she blew up viral in all markets and yes beyond Kpop too.

And as I said her fandom was always super loyal and big, I think people had this wrong perception exactly bc YGE never gave them a real solo career so in 2021 her solo did good, but Money went viral so it kinda "overshadowed " her success which shouldn't tbh, it was still great and 2023 Jisoo exploded with Flower with Solo being such an impactful song so people did though she flopped, but she didn't.

    And yeah, I'm loving her promo rollout too. I'm sure her album will have even more amazing songs and she'll get opportunities to be even bigger. It's a blessing for me. I stan BP and the pinks 90% bc of their music so finally seeing they releasing music it's just magic!

    She charted on title and one b-side in the top 10 idk where this narrative comes from. I know most of the the time main vocalist are overlooked but she doesn’t go viral like Jennie or Jisoo because she isn’t a visual but she is actually popular in Korea.

    On twitter I saw a lot of people downgrading the impact of Rosé of the song while it is her idea, about her favourite drinking game!!! ;judgingpepe:

    I don't follow BP much, don't dig their concept or music and generally disappointed with the thin discography, too much focus on style over substance, visuals over vocals - hyper-stylized jingles. So I ignored them


    But with APT, it is a song of substance, good vocals and very well executed. So whatever Rose was in the past, I am very glad that this song is a viral hit beyond fandom both internationally and with Korean GP.

    Coachella Rosé super viral in Korea like people (not bbgc, mostly antis or non blinks) actually ignored her and now they can't with her mega hit so they are acting all surprised when Rosé was always a success! And that's period. Her Spotify stream for GONE a whole bside shows it. Her music is loved.
