I mean EXO did well and had some bops but their impact wasn’t as big as BTS or profound as TVXQ, and nowhere near Bog Bang’s legacy. I think they are remembered at their accurate level
I feel like BTS success overshadowed EXO accomplishments but let’s not forget lots of companies take notes from them.
And album sales, especially, bulking buying wouldn’t be what is today without them. Their c-fans were crazy. Also EXO is a visual group with not one but plenty of vocalists And they gave us Kai. So what more should I say lmao 
EXO is not anything less than TVXQ. The only difference being TVXQ were bigger in Japan and EXO in China. This delusion of thinking any SM bg Is bigger than EXO needs to be studied.
EXO’s albums are also infinitely more memorable. Other than mirotic no one will ever think of TVXQ. They never charted either.

diff opinions i guess. Someone who likes big bang wouldn't appreciate things like having a choreography and dancing cuz they're not really known for that. Exo with their 8 members now is perfect in my opinion. Still a big group but its easier to see everyone shine

For kpop fans of that era EXO’s peak was memorable, and they had many fans who they satisfied a lot, especially with their music. On the grand scheme of things they were just not as massive as their fans want to believe, although they were significant in their own right
Well they were the first to have multiple of their albums on the Billboard World album charts, at the same time. They were one of the riskiest concepts SM had done at that point, as there was still strong racism toward the idea of having Chinese or Taiwanese group members, and splitting a group into two different language based groups was not an favorable concept.
Taemin was originally supposed to be a member of EXO, but because he excelled so much as a trainee, LSM yanked him from the group's lineup and debuted him 2 years earlier than planned, in SHINee.
Definitely reviving the physical sales market in Korea is their greatest legacy. of course, there were groups after them selling more and setting unprecedented standards, but I believe, with EXO, It was the first time after over a decade a group really set themselves apart in term of sales in a period most top groups were selling similarly. And one of the reasons why It happened is because they opened the gates for some aspects of fan culture that have been replicated since then and one of this is organized C-bars for each member individually.
People who said EXO's achivements were overshadowed either are joking or never lived in EXO's peak, even when other groups were thriving, their achievements and contributions were celebrated.
I've been an EXO-L for almost a decade and I recall how even in 2018 when they were too many successful groups to count, they were winning commemorative medals by the Government for being in the center of Hallyu Wave and reviving the physical sales market.
Apart from this, their talent in the vocal and dancing departament has made a lot of people in newer generations (and even in their own generation) to aspire being idols because of their existence and impact.

Yeah it’s just delulu, others during their time were charting only TVXQ didn’t chart. SM BG’s other than EXO were far more irrelevant than them. And always have been.
We always need to clock the uninformed about TVXQ’s importance in Korea. Where they have beat EXO is Japan and that’s it. And to contrast that EXO have China like I said.
