BM is underwhelming compared to BP

Talent isn't enough. Look at NMIXX. And unlike NMIXX BM doesn't even have a top visual to the level of Sullyoon and that still isn't enough. Twice had the x factor, so did BP, groups like NMIXX, Red Velvet, BM don't or not enough to make them massively popular

lol what Red velvet has better discography than 98% groups out there and miles better than combined discographies of Nmixx, BM, BP. It is that Shitty SM who will never promote their artist so they could never be bigger than the company.

If quality and talent was that important MMM or RV would’ve been bigger than Twice and BP. RV was always behind them.
Plus yes Sm sucks but let’s not act BP is well promoted, and JYP wasted so many opportunities for twice so.

They said this about all the new gen groups. Aespa is underwhelming compared to RV, Itzy and Nmixx are underwhelming compared to Twice and now BM compared to BP give them some time. 4th/ 5th generation is way more saturated and competitive than 3rd gen was. It might take abit more time for these groups to shine as bright as their 3rd gen label counterpart

BP were at elite level on debut. But they were also all older on debut.
BM are still very young. They are not a polished finished product. YG is giving them time to slowly get better and better in the next 2 years.
Their new content seems to be less than other groups though, but maybe that is because I'm not going out of my way to see if they have new content.

Agree. I think talented groups like Baemon are permanent in kpop in the long run. Yes, they may not be the most success at this time, but they will last as a group longer than Blackpink. Because they are very young and their talents are constantly improving. Baemon will be more permanent in the industry than Blackpink in the future. I doubt we'll ever see Blackpink in group activities again. I think they chose a freer career path because their solos were so successful. I think very successful groups break up earlier. Most of the groups you see as mid-level losers have lasted more than 10 years in this kpop industry.
-
Jisoo wasn't lauded as a top visual right after debut tho.. back then it was Irene/Tzuyu who were the representative visuals of 3rd gen. Jisoo only moved up the ranks in the past few years after BP became the top GG and her confidence grew and Irene's scandal happened.
But it's true BM doesn't have any standout members like Jennie. Even their vocalists are just meh. Rosé was the voice of BP but the vocalists in BM are overshadowed by Ahyeon and Asa. YG going the exclusive route isn't helping either. They need all the promo they can get.

The reason Baemon is relevant is thanks to bp and their seniors nothing has to do with talent

sorry but the only thing you can't really say is some 'visual level' bullshit
if anything we can all agree, and we knew it from the start that all members are super pretty, eyecatching, and more, and more than that...
as for skills they also don't lack
plus there is 7 of them not just 4
curious how some of you would react if Babymonster get their own song on level of HYLT, Shutdown or Pink Venom...
yap pretty sure many would be hyped and danced, and some would cry in the corner thinking:
"oh boy so it was just a matter of song, but now my favs"
-
It seems babymonster just inherited blackpinks haters because they are already doing quite well whether you wanna believe it or not. They have top tier visuals and vocals.
-
most groups was underwhelming if we compared with blackpink. BabyMonster is still young group they need better songs for to compete with already established groups
-
Give them some time

Kpop fans will complain about the unrealistic beauty standards in kpop and at the same time criticize idols visuals for not being perfect enough.
With that being said, I find this thread funny because that's what kpop fans were saying about blackpink at debut. BP was compared to 2ne1, constantly saying they were lacking and so on. Im not gonna go into details.
Generally speaking its always harder for a new gg to surpass their predecessor that was huge and didn't disband, example: SNSD and f(x), Twice and Itzy, and now BP and BM.
Lastly BM have everything, visuals, vocals, rap, stage presence, everything. If they debuted in 3rd gen they would definitely be bigger. Why do I say that ? because kpop has become oversaturated.
