Are you the kind of fan who buys every version of each album your favorite group drops?

  • Do you buy every version of every physical album your faves release? 29

    1. I just buy one album no matter what (10) 34%
    2. I buy them all, whether it's 20 versions or 2 versions (7) 24%
    3. I only buy the ones with the aesthetic or members I prefer (6) 21%
    4. I never buy any physical albums (6) 21%

I don't think this is a hot take, but I think most fans don't, because most fans don't have that kind of money, especially international fans who have to deal with shipping costs.

I've been a MooMoo for a literal decade now, and I've always bought one album per comeback (well they only HAD one version to start, but my buying pattern didn't change when RBW hopped on the 5-6 different versions of the same album bandwagon).

But maybe it is. I want everyone to vote, so we can get a decent sample size, as I'm genuinely curious.

  • Some I buy all some I buy 1

Haven't bought albums for a long time though

I stopped because I was running out of space, plus I kept getting more posters than I knew what to do with.

I actually made an exception for the most recent NewJeans album because the aesthetic for the How Sweet albums is immaculate and really does add some class to the interior design of my room

  • Well... I'm not the kind of person, who buys kpop albums that often.

I only buy one version of an album.

For me, it feels weird because I think about the fact that the CD in the album, no matter what version, contains the same tracks. And I'm not the kind of person, who would want two CDs containing the same thing.

Even though if it happens that one of the CDs breaks, then it is maybe a good thing to have two of them. (even though you can listen to the album online or something) And well... when my brother was younger, he used to break the video game discs when he didn't want to play the video game anymore. (I don't think he went around breaking CDs containing music though)

  • I only buy the best, most of the time, the limited editions, and I only buy my ultimate faves.

I've had a large collection, but basically lost all of it in a fire. Yeah, all my Mamamoo, SNSD, Red Velvet, BoA, IU, Taeyeon and many other is a dust. Now, I only have 1 shelf basically, because I can't find the old albums anywhere, and even if I love some new groups, I still didn't buy any of their albums.

The only albums I buy now is: Mamamoo (group and solo), IU, Taeyeon, Kim Sejeong, RV and that's all, basically.

I wanna buy KIOF, Young Posse, and some others, but I'm broke as hell. :meme-life-support:

  • really depends but i guess more often i buy 1 than buying multiple versions. unless it's an album i really like buying all versions feels like a waste even if i can afford them

  • No, if I buy it is 1 version.

If there was a time an album had 2 I really loved, then I could buy 2, but it's not something I do. I just don't want to have unnecessary albums taking up space, it's a waste if I won't even see them/look at them again. I have other things/hobbies I'd rather have take up my space (and money).

1 version with the design I love most is enough.

  • I’ve only ever bought one album in the past, but this time with Gidle’s new album I Sway (coming out on Monday) I’m buying one normal version and one cassette tape version, because I currently can afford it and I’m feeling nostalgic for the cassettes of my youth, lol.

I still have an old sound system that can play cassettes so I want to listen to what it sounds like .

  • I've only purchased one version of Girls' Generation's physical albums.

Except TTS's Dear Santa mini albums which had a green and red jacket covers, so I just wanted to splurge.

But, over the past 4 years, I've purchased music digitally because there was no way I'd have space to store the physical versions. Plus, they'd become extra baggage when moving.

So, my answer is "I Technically never buy physical albums."

"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't bout how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward." ~ Rocky Balboa

  • Never bought any kpop album, maybe im not too deep to admire the kpop group since the wonder girls - nobody era.. Always follow the good song for me from any group and never forcing to like the song when its not suit my taste even from fav group. Just listen and enjoy the korean entertainment all this time

  • Nope this would be wastefull and too expensive, especially since different versions of albums are all way too similiar and don't offer that much of a difference

I would understand it more if it would be:

Version A has the 5 songs, a 10 page photobook, maybe a photocard and a goodie

Version B has 5 other songs, a total different photbook with 10 pages, 2 goodies you won't find in version A (no photocard)

Version C has 2 songs of Version A and 2 of version B and another song that is not in any of these versions, a different photobook again, than 2 different photocards

    But most albums be like:

Version A, B, C,D are the same songs, same photobook, just Version A has a blue sleeve, version B a green sleeve, Version C a red sleeve, Version D a pink sleeve, each version another photocard-set where you can get 1 card from. The end

    and so its usless.

I only buy 1 version even if there might be benefits in a more expensive special one or they drop like 8 versions of the same album with barly any differences in each one.

Also I'm not rich, don't have so much space in my shelf or apartment in general and it would look hidious if I would try to place too many items in a tiny bookshelf
