I know they aren't the marjority, most fans treat them well and say good things to the members, but this shitshow annoys me.

Fan calls should just be abolished atp, yes you'll have the occasional cute interaction, but the great majority of people who win these calls are delusional weirdos who only make the idols uncomfortable, and the idols have no way to defend themselves bcs we all know how it'll be taken out of context and twisted maliciously against the idol most of the times.

Fancalls are easily one of the absolute worst things in a comeback schedule. If I see them on my feed I am scared to watch them, there's so many weirdos who shouldn't be talking to them in the first place, and they often win many times again. Sure there's sweet ones too, but man..

I wish they stopped fancalls, or that at least regulate them more and staff cut the call when it takes a weird turn/idol shows a lot of discomfort. Maybe fans in advance would show some type of script or something of what they want to say, and be told what is appropriate and not. It is almost demoralizing that they just have to sit there and smile through seemingly anything. I still remember Han's awkward laughs and looking anywhere but the camera as lingerie girl was calling him baby and saying his voice was sexy.. like they shouldn't be obliged to sit through every situation ever if they find weird and uncomfortable.

The idols themselves should have a "big red button" that they can slap to immediately end a fancall when the "fan" gets stupid with this kind of crap, or offensive, or rude, or political, or trying to "educate" the idol.

Fancalls are just another facet of kpop/idol culture that was really just put too much power and control in the hands of fans, which it should never be.

But of course fancalls and the IRL fanmeet versions as well are huge profit drivers. So they will never go away. The Dreamcatcher fans I met who would buy dozens up dozens of copies of each album would only do so because each purchase was a chance to get a fanmeet/call spot, and they openly bragged that they have managed to get into pretty much every single one each comeback. They also mentioned that this is pretty much the only way to get spots, mass buy. Last I heard from one of them (I mentioned him in the past) is him having a HUGE meltdown because he bought over 100 copies of From Us and DIDN'T get a fancall/meet invite.

I figure this HUGE mass buying shenanigans just to get a 30 second zoom meeting with idols goes on in all fandoms, and because they have spent so much just get in, they feel entitled.
