What is this forum’s thoughts on the made in abyss-gate and the complete lack of media literacy displayed by kpop fans

  • I’m curious

Ofc I just brushed it off as kpop fans being utter freaks and just another reason they use to hate on the people they already hate.

My tolerance for people who try to say you can only consume media if you endorse everything it portrays is alarmingly low. Just because YOU project into things easily and are easily affected by media, doesn’t mean everyone is. It’s like we are all going backwards in time or something when it comes to censorship.

There are many freaks in the anime and manga industry. Lots of pedo mangaka out there. No doubt about it. If we want to call out those people who have indeed been caught endorsing problematic things, by all means do so.

Critiquing MEDIA is 100% allowed. I myself never finished this anime after part way of S1 because I found it MID and torture porn even from season 1.

But consuming media and directly equating it to being a pedo is truly something only kpop fans stupid brains are capable of coming up with.

Anyway I wanted to rant because I hate kpop Stan’s.

  • He's not a pedo, doubt he endorses it but is most definitely an idiot.

You'd think with all the time idols clearly aren't getting vocal lessons, media training would be a thing but clearly not. Don't recommend your fans pseudopedo gore even if you specify you don't like the pseudopedo gory aspect.

I would say they shouldn’t recommend it because they have underage fans and the story is adult.

But there are plenty of people who think made in abyss has literary merit I won’t comment on it because I don’t care about that anime. “Don’t recommend pedo gore” is also the same silly take that the rest of kpop stan twitter is engaging in

  • Well... I know that there are people who like Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, but without being pedos or romanticizing Humbert's and Dolores's relationship.

Nabokov himself didn't see their relationship as romance.

I haven't read Lolita, but I'm also reminded of a different book, which is one, I'm currently reading. Perfume by Patrick Süskind.

The book features a scene, where a 13-14 year old girl gets choked to death by the main character. (his age is close to hers at that part though)

But of course, I don't think it is okay to go around choking people.

I do like the book so far, and the reason I like it is because of the description of smells and stuff.

VIXX's "Scentist" is actually based on that book and, as far as I know, they haven't gotten any backlash for it.

Just like with Lolita, I haven't watched Made In Abyss or read the manga.

So I can't say much, except the fact that there are differences between these two, even though both are popular, but controversial.

Some people took the issues with the fact that some of those kpop artists were allegedly recommending that anime. Even though some of the kpop artists weren't actually recommending it or even liking it, and it was a case of antis spreading misinformation.

Seeing and hearing stuff about that anime makes me understand why they took issues with the kpop artists liking and recommending that anime, but it also seems like fans cared more about creating fanwars and stuff.

Depending on the context, I don't think idols recommending 18+ content is by itself a no-no. Idols recommending 50 shades or euphoria or 13 reasons or something isn't that bad to me.

When the adult content is extreme and disturbing like extreme violence to children and very suggestive scenes involving child characters, just no. Regardless of it's literary merit. That's just a dumb thing to do

13 reasons why for me is fsr more disturbing than whatever imagery I saw of made in abyss. I guess we all have different triggers. In any case this comes down to kpop fans and and their short comings and idols who need to pander to them. And not because idols did anything inherently wrong.

  • There are plenty of people who consider you pedo if you like lolita.

  • when the paanchoa article came out at first I was really shocked, I had heard about the anime and manga and how it had a lot of pedophilic undertones and the author is well questionable.... in most I was mostly disappointed and disturbed about the supposed translation of Soobin's live where it stated that the show made him excited.

It’s an adult manga intended for an adult audience with many controversial themes. Not sure why you should be disappointed or disturbed by others consuming it, no one is forcing you to consume it after all.

Anyway it’s gonna seem like I care about that anime when I dropped it in S1 itself lol.

I know? and I can be disturbed and disappointed lol like you said the manga is made for adults soobin and txt as a whole have minors in their fandom (and quite the bunch as well) imagine some kid going to search the anime or the manga. so yeah i'm disappointed at the thought he didn't think about that dude.

Then you should be disappointed in the parents of those children who are not monitoring what their child is looking up.

Soobin nor any idol is responsible for raising any child. There’s no need for anyone to make themselves “kid” friendly. That’s up to their parents.

even with their parents monitoring what their kids you do realize that this kids can do a quick search up right? it's true that Soobin nor any other idol should be the one raising anyone's children but he should keep in mind his fan base.

  • even with their parents monitoring what their kids you do realize that this kids can do a quick search up right? it's true that Soobin nor any other idol should be the one raising anyone's children but he should keep in mind his fan base.

Yes that’s still on the parents to teach their kids not to look up random stuff on the internet. Indeed. All around you there’s stuff people are sharing and recommending. that’s how the world works. The world is not and will not be kid friendly

guess so. That is why idols get media trained as well I guess to not get flame for recommending things that could get them set up . Just how the world works <3.

Idols drink alcohol during their lives, hell, they even do them while being tipsy. They do it despite knowing that minors are watching too. Do you think they are sending a message to their young viewers to get drunk?

I'm tired of this narrative that parents are blameless and social media is to blame for everything that children do. It's parents' job to bring up their children, stop (plural) making excuses and putting blame on everyone else. If parents thought their kids well they wouldn't be doing stupid challenges on tiktok. But everyone (my mom included) always blame tiktok, somehow tiktok is to blame it's users aren't really smart

It's not media's job to bring up your kids

Nah I do believe that parents are to blame for a lot of the actions their kids do but you can't lie about the influence celebrities and social media stars have on kids. It does correlates with parenting though maybe if parents will just get kids out of social media/ the internet but it is impossible in this era, even if kids are not allowed to have electronics at home they most likely do at school. About the first sentence had people not talk about that already is the same thing with drugs look at GD and Hanbin getting flame for drug allegations and a lot of people saying how they are a bad influence for the young generation. And technically Media is in a way bringing up your kids like or not schools have been incorporating media into teaching.

You’re confusing many things. Ofc celebs have influence but so what? It’s up to the parents to monitor the influence. These are not mutually exclusive things.

  • Comparing this to slchol and other adult media like this anime manga whatever doesn’t have clear fetish crap depicting literal children… like that anime’s own fanbase jokes about how the author better not get arrested for cp n shit

Sorry someanime fans are absolute degenerates and y’all can come for kpop fans how ever you want but anime fans deserve just as much imo even more slander for some of the absolute shit they indulge in

Frankly anyone watching shit like that is messed up, so yeah Fock those idols. I don’t think they are pedos but they deserve to get criticized for even watching that nasty shit

  • People not familiar with anime would find many things in anime/ mangá problematic.

And it's not their fault, the fans of those works shrug off most weird stuff because "the plot is good" and then it keeps happening.

I don't think i-fans can do much though, since anime is more targeted at japanese people and they could care less.

"Continued creation of pointless threads will result in warnings and bans. STOP IT."

  • Very true THIS too many fans Are hypocrites and 🤡🤡🤡 clowns. They say this bullshit, but surprisingly it doesn't apply to them or someone they care about. This anime in question isn't something i care for but, just because someone watches it doesn't make them a different person. Saying so is like how those dumb politicians thought playing call of duty made you a serial killer 🤡🤡🤡.

If watching media makes you a bad person I guess hanging around or working with problematic people means that is 1000x worse by their logic. Omg that means my bias Jungkook is pure evil because of all the "problematic" people/friends hes worked with 😂😂😂. Thank God reality doesn't go by fan 🤡🤡 logic. I hope txt seventeen and Ateez i hope hybe in general sues everyone trying to make their artists look bad for watching an anime .

It's ironic too these fake woke idiots are the first to yell at someone racist, fascist etc. But usually are the ones doing it 🤡 dont agree with something they don't like? They will harass you,try to get you cancelled fired from your job and even incite violence towards you. Gee intimidation through fear, censorship forced compliance well that's what fascism is funny how YOU are the gestapo. Cry fredom but are the ones suppressing it the most. These fans are the people that should be on a watch list well before anyone else.

  • Anime fans were mocking K-pop fans, and I found it amusing. It's clear that people used this as a weapon to depict certain idols as evil monsters. I'm pretty sure many who labeled idols as pedophiles haven't actually watched the anime themselves to make a fair judgment. There might be aspects of the anime that are indeed interesting enough for viewers to overlook the disturbing elements.

By their logic, everyone who watches true crime is secretly a serial killer—clearly not the case. Intentions matter. Do you watch something for its disturbing content, or do you seek a good story and can look past certain things? For many people, anime allows them to explore stories they probably wouldn't engage with if it were acted by real people. The animated, unreal nature of anime can alter the perception, as it's not real, and people don't attribute the same morality to it.

Assuming the worst in someone based on their consumption is shallow, in my opinion. People engage with different forms of entertainment for various reasons, and making broad judgments without understanding the nuances behind those choices oversimplifies the situation.

Kpop industry has literal children in questionable outfits and singing questionable songs…cute concept in its entirety for me is just for the sick lolicon obsessed Korean men. I guess you’re a pedo too then.

YG who created your favs was a groomer BTW. Shall I say I too find people who endorse YG groups despicable.

Anime will always be pictures on paper while kpop has literal children. Kpop Stan’s priorities will never not surprise me.

Anyway people like you have no media literacy and aren’t worth interacting with. So by all means hold on to your fake outrage.

  • I think celebs talking about reading this manga helps in normalizing the sick fantasies of the author which is wrong but it doesn't make them pedos lol

Agreed. Absolutely…..saying you shouldn’t support media by problematic people is 100% correct. I was a fan of the anime Rurouni Kenshin. It was actually my all time fav anime lol. Anyway the author is a pedo who had CP. Never again did I mention this anime.

However the point here being that consuming certain type of content means you endorse it. I don’t believe that to be true. And imo it showcases immense lack of ability to think critically.

  • You can like it you can hate doesn't matter.

But when it comes to recommending stuff to fans there are stuff that shouldn't be recommended especially when you have young fans

I don't think that just because you watch it makes you a pedo. Like doesn't mean you watch porn means you are a sex addict or a r*

Or doesn't mean that you like watching the Saw Franchise means you are a psycho wanting to lock people and cut people up and put them in death games and shit

    Agree 100%

Why people consume media is complicated.

Are there people who consume certain media because they’re pedos and have sick mentality? Absolutely. But can you make broad sweeping assessments about such things? No you can’t.

  • People aren’t just criticizing them for rec’ing it. Some didn’t even rec just watched it. Sure what can or can’t be recommended to their young audience can be criticized. Kpop should be suitable for the kiddies is alrigh. I don’t agree but I also don’t care if people think that.

But people are calling these idols pedos and creeps and imo that’s a weird take.

If their faves watch it they will call it art and acquired taste

Don't remind me. For literally more than a decade, if not almost two decades, I've been calling RK a virtually perfect manga.

    So much for that :pepefacepalm:

  • Absolute FACTS!!

I honestly think an idol can recommend whatever they want, it's upto the parents to di their jobs and watch what their kids are doing. It's wild to think some people think little kids should be stanin grown ass men and women in their late 20s 30s and 40s and all their music ranges from an I love you song to full on Jungkook I fuck you 7days a week🤡💀 idols sexualize the fuck out of things these are adults! Kids should not be in the fuckin audience at all!

The fact some people use think of the kids an excuse to bash idols show you they don't give a fuck and just want a hate train to jump on. If they cared they would be parenting the kids and pushing for fansigns, concerts and weverse have age restrictions.
