honestly I've been wondering if aespa's latest comeback sounds too repetitive for y'all (+ if the next comeback needs a different sound)

Why do y’all want them to be boring so bad.

I experienced the same kind of “hook burnout” from Mirae’s “Marvelous”.

Thinking Aespa is gonna change their music, when SM is preparing a more traditional GG in a few months seems weird lol.

There suppose to be more hype/girl crush to probably contrast from the new group. It’s possible SM doubles down (with the new group), but i’d assume with the success of IVE/NJ, they’d go a softer route.

i think both spicy and drama are very boring songs so i hope that they do something different next time

Its been only a couple of months since they released better things which is completely different from their other releases.

They released better things jsut fee months back and spicy was a brighter concept as well. I think they do mix it up as is usually at SM to alternate between light and darker sounding songs.

I love their sound (for the pre choruses and bridge especially, Drama's chorus is not so great imo).

Your ideas could be cool too tho if they remix it well and with a Next Level structure. Maybe for bsides or special songs.

I mean their Dreams Come True remake is amazing

if you don't like their current sounds listen to their previous stuff or even other groups whose sounds you do like

Drama is 🔥 & it's their biggest hit yet globally so that's the direction they should lean

aespa stay true to their signature Hyper Pop sounds since debut. There is no reason to expect them to drop the sound, when they are still doing well

I mean, you have NJ for the y2k. We dont need aespa to regress and follow trend. If anything, from the past we've been known that SM will not the trend chaser. They will just stick to what they have promised. If you want trend chaser, you can look for JYP groups - JYP already making NMIXX go down that route.

The only problem I have is the lack of hyperpop in the rest of their B-sides. SM could really go all out, and yet they play the safe card every time. it's like SM doesn't know what they want their sound to be. Their concept could be utilized so well in their music, but I find SM keeps it at a lukewarm level.

I don't know if it's a lack of understanding of the genre, but the only song that personally to me fit their concept the best was Hold on Tight, and that wasn't even a song in any of their albums, it was just for a TV show soundtrack.

Aespa's musical team seem to be (IMO) struggling with their sound and balancing it out with their concept. Anyway, Drama was really good and is their best title track for now, but even Drama does not compare to Hold on Tight.
