Will history repeat itself with Babymonster (Blackpink) defeating Newjeans (Twice)?

idkk it depends on the music... a lot of kpop stans heavily dislike baemon ALREADY cz of their stans etc

i think they will DEF be successful tho, no doubt about it. newjeans however, has managed to gain that extra level by gaining GLOBAL attention and esp with non kpop fans. would baemon do the same? if they do, then they have a chance...

Twice continued to have hits nearly 3 years after BP debut. You do realize there can be more than 1 successful girl group right? Also twice has gained international popularity to this day. They weren’t defeated by BP nor can BP be defeated by New Jeans or New Jeans by Baby Monster. They can just all be successful independently of eachother. For this “defeat” to be true you have to show BP or any of those other groups actively taking fans away from other groups to the point the other group stagnates. That just isn’t the case with any group mentioned

The only thing I know for sure, is that there will be long hiatus between B.M. comebacks, 7 years are going to go by and they will have like 30 songs.

I think what will actually happen is there will be a group called BabyMonster and a group called NewJeans and both might put out music.

I dont know about Baemon since they havent debuted yet but Newjeans trajectory is the same with Twice

Most likely both will be successful, and at the same time there will be another 2 or 3 other successful girl groups.

However longer term cute teen concepts do not work. Even Twice to evolved.

Newjeans trajectory is the combination of both bp, twice and little bit of bts. They debut with a hit songs like bp and and their first cb was really successful like Twice. Then their songs become a hit internationally. They do well in Japan and also doing well in the states. And they manage to have multiple songs in bb 100 and top bb 200 in early of their careers.

But anything is possible. If yg finally know how to manage their group properly bm can challenge the top groups position now especially with their big 3 status. If not, hope they learn that Bp is really a rare case in kpop.

And how some of you forget that Ive is here? If you say that the 'new' Twice is not from Jyp, why should the 'new' BP coming from Yg too?

no chance, hybe is not even close to be as useless, have the lack of vision and creativity and be as cheap as jyp, yg wont have that luck anymore, it will be very hard for any other company to break hybe hegemony in kpop. it took jyp 3 years to put twice discography on spotify? Newjeans has already spent more time on the biggest spotify's playlists than blackpink something jyp has not given twice 1 single day... no twice solo brand deals with luxury brands during their first 7 years allowing bp to monopolize that area? Newjeans got like 10 in their first 100 days and will eventually be the bp equivalent for 4th gen... no tiktok until 2020? no american company until 2020?

and you can count every single mistake jyp committed with twice and look how hybe completely avoids it and even do it better than yg, again yg wont have the luck of the competence being a company more occupied with recovering from their lowest point and focused on creating more successful groups, newjeans have all of hybe's attention, money and connections which is trying to making them the next bts, baemon wont be competition unless a miracle happens, they would compete with aespa, lesserafim and ive while newjeans rules the girl group market for at least the next 5 years.

2NE1 was my favorite girl group of all time prior to Mamamoo, and they never fully surpassed SNSD, even though they were competitive. What are you even talking about?

There is nothing that will derail the NewJeans train to the top of the industry at this point. YG has his eyes set on the 5th Generation, because the 4th Gen is already settled, and he realizes it's pointless to compete with them.

Do you understand what NewJeans has done digitally? They've accomplished in a single year what it has taken most top groups entire careers to achieve, and as much as people want to use the changes in the market to diminish their accomplishments, if it was that easy, all the top girl groups would have similar numbers, but nobody even comes close to NewJeans.

Projecting any group to rival the biggest debut and fastest rise in the history of K-Pop is just silly talk. Let BM actually debut first, let's see how it does and then we'll go from there.

Until then, maybe hold off from matching them against a group that has spent literally the entirety of their career inside the Melon top 10, put 5 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single calendar year, had a #1 best-selling album on the Billboard 200 and quite simply have no peer amongst their peers currently.

There is no precedent for what we've seen from NewJeans in one year. Stop trying to find one in Twice or SNSD.

I get points like twice and Bp but how’s that trajectory like that of BTS??

These girls are getting hit songs right off the bat and just in their first year alone, already achieving records that took BTS many years to do. They have everything BTS lacked in their debut years
