I feel like it's different. IVE releases at the same pace except Newjeans promotes way more singles than IVE does. People always check out MVs, they perform more songs on music shows. So yeah, they'll chart more songs higher than IVE will. That doesn't mean IVE wouldn't be able to do the same, it just means Starship is about as competent as my dog who's currently napping right now.

We can always keep comparing but they're different groups, targetting different groups of people, with different means but the one thing they have in common is their success and the fact they're super beloved in Korea. But I also know without constant "'4th gen leader" discussions, this forum would instantly die

If you're talking peaks, no song compares to Ditto. It has the most PAK hours of any song in the history of the chart.

If you're talking longevity, it's Hype Boy. It has spent more time in the top 10 than any song in the history of the chart.

If you're talking overall digitals in Korea, it's NewJeans. They have the most hours at #1, most weeks at #1 behind only Big Bang, and they're the only group in history to occupy the top 3 of every Korean chart for 3 consecutive months.

I am not attempting to shade IVE. But you have to erase a lot of NJ's success or heavily weight one single metric, like the infamous ULs, to claim they're even in Korea.

I was more referring to others unironically using ULs to argue the relative popularity of songs. Which is silly.

In 2017, Mamamoo set a then girl group record for 24 hour unique listeners with the release of Yes I Am. But watch the fireworks if I make a thread claiming YIA was the biggest girl group song of 2017. ULs isn't even close to a reliable metric on its own
