A lot of female (I hate saying that) idols have been height shamed. The first that comes to mind is Irene. Of course there are a lot of stans who are like "Awww my wittle uwu baby" but on the other hand I've seen people imply that because [insert pretty idol here] isn't as pretty as they could be because they are under 170cm. Also stans talk about idols like Wonyoung or Tzuyu like tall women are the rarest coming ever and like they are more beautiful than shorter female idols due to their height.
Reply with your opinion, not with "No because _ is short"
Is height important for female idols?

It's the beauty standard to be tall in Korea. Most companies want their idols to be tall and slim. Usually shorter idols are treated like babies while taller idols are treated like models. I think people bring Irene down saying stuff like she could be even more perfect if she was taller, which is so stupid to me.

I mean female idols are shamed for almost anything: they're too short, they're too fat, they don't have certain Korean beauty standards, they look to foreign etc etc all before their skills or talents have even been brought up
-
so like many people here say, it's all about proportions, and there are of course personal preferences
my personal opinion is that height itself shouldn't be a "decisive point" because some girls can be tall and looking like giraffes without TT's etc. so how she is proportional? because she has long legs but is flat as a calm sea?
that's not a great body...
this is why I never get people naming someone "visual" just because that person has "face", it should be overall face + body

height doesn't matter. It's all about being pretty.
if you're ugly, it doesn't matter if you're tall.
honestly i can't feel sorry for a pretty girl getting height shamed.... like omggg poor you.. you're not completely perfect??? cry me a river

proportion usually matters more for women than height, although in extreme cases (too tall or too short) it repels more people

It used to be but it's not that important anymore. Companies tend nowadays to go with younger/girl next door concepts rather than the sexy/mature concepts of old.
-
If it was important there wouldn't be that many successful short idols.

It's part of KBS to be tall as a female. It don't like it...but it just they way it is...

I think height only matters if you're unusually short or if your group is much taller than you. I think Nako and Yeojin do have a hard time being taken seriously because of their unusually short heights (both seem like they're 4'10 to me). I've seen vids where both seem to indicate displeasure with being stereotyped as "cute" because of their height. OTOH i dont think Irene is much taller than 5'0" and she's one of the most popular idols of 3rd generation, her height doesnt look too bad next to other shorties like Yeri and Wendy.

I think it's harder for 5'3" and shorter females to pull off sexy concepts.

Bump because I want more opinions

It’s a standard they have, but I feel like it’s one that gets a bit more of a pass when it comes to female idols. They still get bashed for it like almost anything else that they do or don’t do, but I feel that since they get to debut and become successful means it’s not the most deal breaker?

Most female idols aren't tall, most seem to be around 5'3" to 5'5", which is average height for a female.
Taller people are considered more attractive in Korea, so tall idols are praised, but I don't think short female idols are looked down on, unless they're extremely short.
