We all know there's gender disparities around the world. But you may be surprised about how extremely low the share of top level business participation women have in Korea in proportion to men. Kpop is no exception, where despite females being the main customers (they buy most of the albums), female bosses, executives, owners, CEOs are few and far between. And even people like Min Hee Jin ultimately have to answer to men ("HitMAN" Bang PD, chairman of HYBE). The disparity keeps getting bigger as album sales go into the millions (thanks mostly to women), and as kpop companies and their associated conglomerates, owned by men, get bigger profits. While the percent of male customers keeps shrinking, so once again women have to pick up the slack to keep fueling kpop's growth. Is there any other global business with such a high proportion of old men getting richer almost exclusively from women?
