in SM for EXO at least it’s about how much someone wants to/is ready to release a solo album and members release when they have the desire/confidence. All of them are very creatively involved in the solo album process. It’s weird that kpop Stan’s expect everyone in a group to be equally interested in releasing solos lol.

Mamamoo already did that. The members even swapped their solo songs to perform at their concert

Chanyeol has been publicly expressing his desire for a solo album for literally years now (he was talking about it in magazine interviews since 2019) and SM still hasn't given him a solo, and he still didn't show up in the "planned activities for 2023" timetable either. He definitely has the desire/confidence SM just isn't letting him do it.

Wanting to and being ready are separate things. I don’t believe anyone is blocking him. Chanyeol tried out his producing capabilities with SC and I believe SC was completely his and sehun’s brain child.

He is working on his solo songs now and will release it when he’s ready. As someone who is into making music himself it’s not surprising his solo is taking longer. Fans really do be thinking members have no control of their own lives it’s weird.

He is literally working on his solo album, once it's ready he will release it. Iirc he event went to LA to record something. We have a lot to look forward with his debut.

if we are talking about with physicals... only jin, rm, hobi and soon jimin has had those... but i'm guessing by end of the year at least 5-6/7 will have had physicals

so Jhope ended up releasing an album? I remember they were complaining about not having an album or something like that that's the last I heard I don't keep up.

i mean he had weverse album which are QR codes basically... so he had "physicals" but not really... also we finally got a vinyl for it at the end of last year so....but those were limited

hope tae and jk take their sweet time.. 7 official solos in less than a year is too much (for hybe to handle)

he didnt have a physical album (unless you consider A2 sized cards with just a weverse code... )

he did have limited vinyls, who were shipped like 6months later :)

Well all the bts boys have released solo songs in terms of them being free songs including V( winter bear, snow flower etc). As for solo debuts only 3/7 have done it with number 4 otw.

BTS would have had 4 solo debuts by the time BP has 4 seeing jisoo cb is a week after Jimin’s. So technically BP would be the first ones to have all members officially debut since their total is just four unlike BTS who have 7 members. It would take end of 2023 or mid of 2024 before all BTS members have officially debuted as solos

Didn’t OP say top group? No offence I like mamamoo and some of their solo songs too but they aren’t top groups in comparison to BTS or BP.

I'm just saying he explicitly said he wanted to release it in 2019 and 2020, and went as far in a W interview to say in early 2020 "I have to release my solo this year, it has to be this year (and this was way before his "scandal")" but SM didn't let him, so it's not as simple as if the member wants it. And who is SM to decide if it's ready or not? Especially with all we've learned about them this year.

Mamamoo has been at the same level as BP, Twice and Red Velvet for much longer than they haven't, and off the top of my head, they've had 5 solo title tracks, 1 a collaboration with Loco, top the digital charts in Korea.

Name me another girl group that has more. I'll wait.

Additional info is that all exo members have solo song, only Chanyeol and Sehun don't have album.

Maybe it's Chanyeol who decides if it's ready or not? He is further working on his solo which tells me he probably wasn't 100% pleased with his album which is why he is still working on it.
