I agree, but this is asking laypeople (us) about people who do not make acting their primary career, who will win an Oscar first. None of them are working towards this and as such, we haven't seen them as full-time, career driven actors. I mean how would we know? We haven't seen them in more than one role and some films haven't actually even been released (Jennie).
Anything is possible

Since people are fighting on when exactly 3rd gen ended and people do not know if it was 2017 or 2016 before 4th gen started the next year after I am unsure if I could name my faves since A.C.E debuted in 2017 and 3 of their members were acting allready and one of them even had the main role in a drama.
Other than that I know that Chani and Rowoon of SF9 acted too and people randomly respect them as actors ... but sadly give no fucks for them as idols as much as they do with when it comes to their acting.
Some member of VIXX acted too before, I forgot who exactly but the only time I ever saw someone in a drama was former VIXX Hongbin but he was quit meh as an actor and he never acted again since then
Also there is Cha Eunwoo, people freakingly praise him for just existing in Korea altho they seem to care more for him than for Astro
And back to the 2017-issue since if 2017 still counts under 3rd gen than we can also name CIX's Jinyoung cause he had his OG debut in that year and he also worked as actor by now.
But I don't think that anyone of them could ever come that far as an actor

D.O. is about to star in one of Korea’s biggest space fiction movie ever :- The Moon. The scale is jaw dropping.
As for the topic of this thread, It’s hard to say. Usually Oscars nominate either performances which was very “big” in nature (lots of yelling, screaming and crying) or Biopic roles (Elvis, Darkest Hour, Ray, Capote, Bohemian Rhapsody)…. Hardly any room for any subtle, restrained performances although this year they took a step further changing that stereotype :- Paul Mescal was nominated for his astounding performance in Aftersun (Watch this film, it will leave you thinking for days).
So that could be one of the driving factors.
I don't think are going to win an oscar. I do hope to see Sejong get more recognition though
Why not? now many Asian actors are winning big acting awards like Emmy, Oscar, SAG. Youn Yuhjung/Lee jungjae isn’t even known in Korea like Cha Eunwoo/IU yet still get an Oscar. Kpop idols can get one with the right role.

I should of said don't see they winning this early maybe later on but at the moment I see nobody
