I don't understand why SM and JYP still don't allow their 4th gen gg to do solo activities

  • We need to stop because this is exactly what Jihyo said about twice. Jyp just gaslight them into pushing the group over solo propaganda so their group would have no choice but to resign since they would basically washed once they leave JYPE.

The Suzy argument is outdated because at one time Tzuyu was pushing until the scandal happened.

Yeah I agree, JYPE is basically holding them hostage. They are not giving solo careers in fears something like GOT7 happens again where the members established their careers while they were at JYPE and leave them.

  • Well, the other big 4 seem to been doing just fine without the "genius" division system.

  • It's impossible for groups like Itzy and Aespa not popular enough to get any offers from any brands at least in Korea. I don't think op focuses on luxury brands only because except Sakura, all Le sserafim is a muse/ambassador for Korean brands.

Do you think these luxury brands are too stupid to choose Newjeans as their ambassador if they don't see the effect of Newjeans' popularity at least on Korean and kpop fans? They are much bigger company than Hybe and have been in business longer, do you think Hybe can easily convince or fool them into choosing Newjeans just because of their Spotify numbers? As far as I know, only Hanni was officially appointed as Global ambassador while the others were only brand ambassadors in Korea (Not sure about Danielle because Burberry didn't make any announcement yet). Hanni was invited exclusively by the CEO of Gucci too to become the global ambassador. You know why this is not fishy, because since Blackpink, all these brands are racing to find the next big thing in Kpop to expand their market in Asia and it just so happens that Newjeans has a very phenomenal debut. Before they became very popular and expensive, these brands chose to tie them first before having to compete with other brands.

Newjeans has 5.5 m followers on Tiktok and 5.7 m followers on Instagram. Their Chinese fanbase in weibo growing rapidly. Why you didn't mention this and why only using YouTube? Among all 4th gen gg, their social media growth is very fast in just 6 months, of course those brands already doing their projection and calculation before taking these girls as their ambassador.I don't know why it's hard for some kpop fans to understand this but looking from business and marketing pov, it's very make sense why these brands want them.

  • Maybe they are following the BTS way and not Blackpink way. Where you promote the group until it’s really strong that even they became global ambassadors for LV (as a group), and their 2019 tour was custom made by Dior to promote their partnership. I’m not sure if there are other kpop groups that were/are global fashion ambassadors as a group. Do you guys know?

Now with BTS during solo projects, it’s just a matter of time for all members to be fashion ambassadors, people already know their name. For now, Jimin is with Dior, Suga Valentino and J-hope with LV. Namjoon is pretty sus with Bottega Veneta so we will see.

Imagine if they started doing solo projects earlier on, I bet the popularity would not be as evenly distributed. So maybe some labels are thinking like that.

  • Well, the other big 4 seem to been doing just fine without the "genius" division system.

Well, HYBE copied JYPE's Divisional System by buying up subsidiaries and SME are thinking of doing the same. JYPE proved that such a system works really well.

JYPE's Division System consist of the 4 SK Divisions, JYPE China, JYPE Japan and soon JYPE America. Currently the Non-Korean Idol Groups are co-managed by TENCENT (Boy Story), Sony Music Japan (NiziU) and soon Republic Records (A2K).

In 2023-2024 JYPE plans to debut 4 more groups, A2K, China BG, Japan BG and the LOUD BG, the reason they can "leak" these groups is due to their Divisional System being more superior than just buying Subsidiaries as JYPE has control of the Training Processes as well as the Contracts

  • JYP takes forever to give solo promos look at how long it took for a Twice solo debut

Jyp strategy is to focus on group over individual availability at all costs as shown with Twice and Itzy. That's normal for them.

fr i'm calling bs on the whole "we like working as a group" thing. i think twice could have and likely wanted to do wayyyy more solo stuff way earlier but were not allowed to. and obviously had to say "no we're focusing on promoting as a team" bc it's not like they could say otherwise?? onces would have gone absolutely feral

i doubt it's not the same situation for itzy

We need to stop because this is exactly what Jihyo said about twice. Jyp just gaslight them into pushing the group over solo propaganda so their group would have no choice but to resign since they would basically washed once they leave JYPE.

The Suzy argument is outdated because at one time Tzuyu was pushing until the scandal happened.

    Agree with all.

But ALL of this is only true for Women, if you're a Man under JYP strangely you have a lot more freedom. :-)

If you really love something, you have to know how to let go.

  • JYPE has always been a low-effort company, and promoting members individually takes a lot of time and money. It is much more profitable to just keep their focus on group activity, meaning doing a lot of comebacks a year and all the promotions that come with it.

The main way that any music label makes money is through music sales, then concerts, and the rest. Especially in the first contract, which is where the company gets a bigger share of the profits.

They want to keep their margins high at the cost of their artists' popularity. Great business model.
