He's been number 1 on Spotify since 2020 but his yearly streams went from 8.3 billion to 18.5 last year...

BB's been a monster. Crushes pretty much everyone in streaming. He just started going after physical album sales.

Plus Spanish the 2nd most spoken language on earth.

This is such weak trolling. BTS was on "hiatus" and yet they still a threat. HYBE/SK making sure the spotlight can go to other kpop groups by clearing the way but I guess they overestimated kpop's impact. I'm happy Bad Bunny won over the other Industry darlings with white/western privilege.

because his songs are in Spanish unless you speak Spanish you won't know lol

1) have evaded military service

2) abandon K-O-R-E-A, including its rabid incels, backward conservative politicians, and people like IU

3) abandon Bang

and should have aimed for the world.

Congrats to Both... the first spanish album to be #1 on the chart... iirc that is the 3rd non-english album to hit #1 on the chart.. There has been a JPN one (Arashi) , a korean one (MOTS:7) and now a spanish one

Both acts have their strengths... Bad Bunny's lies in his insane streaming. His album got over 11B streams on Spotify in 2022 alone.

The album was absolutely MASSIVE

BTS's strengths lies more in their physicals alongside having strong streaming as well (hence why BTS is above him on the artist chart)

Tbh we don’t praise BTS Spotify streams enough. They are the only act in top 10 whose main market doesn’t use Spotify. Kinda insane when you think about it.

Yup, its pretty insane... i'll have to double check but i think they are now the 9th most streamed artist in Spotify History in lead streams (recently overtaking Post Malone)

Acts above them are Drake, Bad Bunny, Ed, Taylor, The Weeknd, JB, Araina and Eminem. All those acts have North America being their main market except Bad Bunny who as we know has a main market that is also very stream focused on Spotify.

Tbh BTS also has so many markets that they are big in... like their strength accross the globe is insane

1) If they want to abandon Korea there is no shortage of countries to take them

2) Artists can domicile wherever they feel like. If BTS did that they would never be able to enter K-O-R-E-A again, but in K-O-R-E-A IU already had taken the top position over them at the end of 2021 so it was Korea which abandoned them first

Very glad BB got Album over those western/white artists...

if the industry wasn't as racist/narrow minded, BB would be dominating almost everywhere & winning grammy's etc. His album blew away pretty much every other big A-lister's.

BTS were top4 for both biggest artist & album in 2022 and they are the 9th most streamed act on spotify EVER. BB doing this well takes nothing away from bts, both are probably few of the most organic acts (no 394 discounted versions, countless spotify deals,...).

This isn't a drag the OP think it is but it is a reminder that poc like BTS and BB can take on white western acts even ones as desperate for a #1 like Taylor Swift.

Everyone knows how much i loathe Dynamute, but i would rather have Dynamute strapped to my eardrums and playing 24-7 than be forced to listen to any Bad Bundy song. His "noise" is unlistenable.

pretty sure he's on that un dos tres song. Jlo and Shakira sang a little bit of it during their super bowl performance too.

But yeah it makes sense why he's higher, bad bunny had a big new album release while BTS only released an anthology album. It's great how BTS are in top 10 without a fully promoted comeback and with an anthology too.
