AESPA First VR CONCERT CONFIRMED for MARCH

  • Aespa VR Concert at Kwangya

Aespa is having their first concert at “Kwangya”, an unruled and infinite place. Users are invited to “Kwangya” by being virtually flown into the “Flat” where "aespa" and "ae-aespa" can “Synk” ("ae" is one’s alter ego in the virtual world with a free will of its own; “Synk” is a state of connection between human in the real world and their counterpart avatar). Fans will experience aespa and their stories up close and personally like never before in this VR Concert experience.

  • that will be really intresting :wow:

  • Nice! This is exactly what I was waiting for when Aespa was first announced...of course this was during covid and I thought it was a genius idea because people can't have concerts because of covid and VR would be the logical step.

Of course there was a huge cost involved if you don't already have a VR headset.

  • how much is an average one cost these days?

Ummm...around 350.00 for a Quest 2. I believe this is the cheapest standalone unit available on the market.

But I believe there are also VR headset that you can get for like 30.00. It's essentially just a plastic or boardboard headset with lens inside but it's not a standalone unit and will require you to put your smartphone inside. The quality is pretty bad but this is probably the cheapest option.

Of course at 30.00, SM can make their own headset as well to work with whatever app they plan to use if they plan to have it behind an app, and you can just use ur smartphone to project off the app they have with the headset they sell.

actually its about 15 bucks if you got the google cardboard thing.

buuut ngl I was kinda hyped for aleXa's virtual concert being in VR but it was in a game and I couldn't hook it to my phone to use google cardboard.

it better have RTX available lmfao

  • where where whereee can I get the ticket?

actually, this would be cool if VR console already becomes our daily devices like phone.

because watching VR content with a flat display like monitor or phone display isn't as good as the real VR console experience. VR console gonna totaly make it immersive

I completely agree! I have a VR headset myself and I honestly think I've been on VR with most people. I was able to watch it bloom into what it is now and I think I can agree that Oculus was better when it was independent of Facebook/Meta. I honestly think that it's losing its moxy and the problem with Horizon Worlds is that it lacks soul. The characters seem lifeless and it's like it's trying to be Rec Room without anything that Rec Room actually has other than the communal part and the boring games.

But I think that there's room for improvement in that sense.

    I digress.

VR is an amazing experience and it becomes really immersive sometimes. :blushing:

  • Oh hell, God no.

For people that work in professional/office environments, that idea is a dystopian nightmare. See Mark Suckybergs HORRIBLE Metaverse idea.

    I don't think that it's horrible but it's definitely a start.

Think of it as "beta" as far as progress goes. It definitely has a lot of potentials to become something huge but it's not quite there yet and probably still has a long way to go. But this seems kind of inevitable. VR has been sort of growing in the background. Not many players or games but still a lot of supporters along the way.

Zuckerburg saw an opportunity and went for it. Whether it was smart right now or not, considering how much money Meta is dropping to build this up, I have a huge feeling that it will become huge not too long from now. Though I don't necessarily like him, I respect him for having a goal, knowing his vision, and not giving up even when it's hurting them financially or the user counts for Meta products is dropping (Oculus, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

Someone has to start somewhere. I believe in a VR future and the industry just needed a big player to take on the task and popularize it for the masses. We're not there yet but it's a good start.

I'm glad that you agree with me.

VR has a lot of potential to become huge. You can actually feel like you're anywhere you want without leaving the comfort of your home and feel like you're doing things that you're not actually doing. You can speak with whoever you want and it feels like you're there with the person without actually being physically present.

It's so much more than the potential of a pancake computer or mobile device (that's what we as VR users call regular screens). Its reaches are not the same.

  • I'm glad that you agree with me.

I agree completely with this. I am just excited for all the possibilities it can offer. It’s good now but IMO if it became more mainstream like how everyone has smartphones, it would become better.

Ikr? Flat screen things are getting really advanced but I think that we should work on VR a little bit more. It has the potential to get REAL huge. But for now, it's not there. I remember when VR had such a small amount of people interested and almost no games. But it's picked up speed, especially when Sony adapted their own headset for the PS4. And even more so when Meta picked it up.

I have a feeling we'll get there too! These headsets are not cheap but it's worth it imo. There's so much more that you can do and experience in VR that you can't do in real life or on a regular screen.

I'm thinking of the potential it has for people who are too sick, are handicap, or simply can't leave the house for whatever reason.

I hope by the time I'm 80s, VR tech would allow me the option to still travel the world.

  • Like, Imagine just sitting in your usual bed, put on the vr headset, and you instantly transfered to the kwangya stadium, watching aespa's concert...

or simply watching the next episode of Aespa's SMCU immersively, like you literally in the SMCU...

That would be so cool tbh and it makes me wonder if aespa and SM will do more with VR and the SMCU.

I don't want to imagine it! I need it right now!! :wilds:

    Urghh I dunno

To me that sounds awful still. You're still watching via a screen, just a more immersive one.

It completely takes away everything else that makes attending a concert enjoyable. The energy of the crowd, the tactile feel of sound becoming a physical feeling when the crowd roars and the bassline hits, the thrill of that small, minute moment of interaction with an idol that means not a lot to them but a lifelong memory for you, the feeling of enjoying it with your friends. Depending on the music and group, the feel of the pit, the feel of putting your arm around your concert buddy and jump dancing to the song. The post concert sadness, but hanging out with buddies and fans after it somewhere nearby still basking in the feel. Screaming with the crowd for the encore you know is coming (will you be lying in bed yelling encore?). Even the mistakes and hiccups that happen in a live performance that can create memories (because lets face it, these VR concerts will be mostly pre-recorded). If you're SUPER lucky, the absolute emotion of your group throwing something into the crowd and YOU being the lucky person to get it (happened to me twice in my life).

VR is very, very far from replicating any of that feeling, if it ever will. It might arguably better than watching it on a TV screen or large monitor (and of course on a smartphone, but only idiots do THAT). It's a bit more immersive and a cool novelty gimmick, but its still just watching it on a screen... alone.

  • Of course it wont beat the real thing, but it still takes the experienxe to the next level (pun intended :smirks2: )

For example, I often use my VR to visit places id normally cant. Top of mount everest, on the internation space station, in Egyptian pyramids, etc. Im sure itll be 100x better than in person but its also 100x better than on regular screen.

Then there's also accessibility, fans who are mobility impaired may not want to travel for a concert or go through dealing with the crowd.

Theres also issue of seats, VR will put you at the best seat or even better, feets away from the idols. Everyone gets to have the best seats in the house.

There's also the issue of availability, concert venues are limited in seats, thete will always be more demand than availability and VR helps with thst allow fans who otherwise can't see it be able to whether it's due to financial reasons or something just like the concert won't be in their country.

VR also allows for a things like the actual AEs to be on stage.

Nothing will beat the real experience but this is the intermediate option between being there and being home.

  • I always find discussions like this interesting.

I also thought once their concept was first unveiled that they could do a VR concert so this is actually great to see. I really hope this becomes more common in KPOP especially for fans who aren't able to attend certain performances. Like imagine getting to see your fave at a music show, live, being an international stan in the comfort of your bedroom.

There are really good ideas in here as well, like if they wanetd to they could always go as far to expand and getting to witness those SMCU episodes through virtual reality. They already have a feature on their debut mini where you get to scan the CD through the SMTOWN AR app, which allows fans to pretty much explore KWANGYA. Now imagine that with a headset oooo their concept just has so much potential
