British sophisti-pop
Going British sophisti-pop could be the one thing that makes me stop liking k-pop. Infact, I'm not sure you can be forgiven for presenting the idea. On the other hand, (insert k-pop idol in a zoot suite or flapper dressed) and I'm on board.
And just to bring up that brief moment when swing was back in in the 90's.
OMG I just remembered that was one of the first CD's I ever owned!
Also, we can't forget:
You can all thank me or hate me later for introducing those songs to your brain.

Also these as well, esp for darker concepts. We might see a resurgence in makeup that is basically updated emo eyeliner
All of these shots are from last month
As to /when/ this'll happen, I think by the end of next year we'll be able to pinpoint it starting to take over, esp if NewJeans move on from Y2k and do Tumblr/indie girl for their summer CB
I've been bullish on frosted tips re-emerging sometime soon (combined with spikey hair of course)

80s arena rock and hair metal.
80s synth.
Pop country.
And yes, these are more my wishes, not my objective forecasts. Pop music has gone straight downhill since grunge took over, the only bright spots since 1993 have been the EDM phase circa 2012 and of course Kpop's blend of EDM/hip hop/colorpop by JYP, Teddy, etc.
We can't let Kpop trundle down the path of the rest of the world. Please please NO MORE RNB, NO MORE HIP HOP, NO MORE LATIN BEATS, NO MORE GENERIC MID NONSENSE.
Make Kpop great again omg.
Just for clarity, if ygngg debut with a redneck pop country aesthetic, would you be excited for them?
Doesnt even have to be hardcore classic country like from 60s or 70s. Modern country obviously has a lot of rock elements, in fact, i view modern country bands like Florida Georgia Line as the descendants of the 80s rock and hair metal bands that were killed off by grunge. I think a lot of us 80s rock fans found refuge in these "new wave bro country" bands and soloists like Luke Bryan. I havent paid attention to country since 2019 though so i dunno what's going on these days, once i found Kpop, i pretty much jettisoned all local music from my playlists lol.
But if Kpop has to move away from the colorpop/EDM trap of Twice and BP, i'd much rather see it bring over the power ballads and guitar driven anthems of this bro country than to see it go down the rehash RnB/hip hop/Latin road that has been done a trillion times already. There is a way too, we saw how lit some of those rock remixes of Kpop songs have been, i remember everyone was excited for the Fancy "Rock Remix" version a couple years ago at SBS Gayo 2019 i think.
