Basically, gave a big cash influx at buy time, then let them do their stuff.
That still mean Starship keep the same management policy as before just with having bigger connections and budgets thanks to kakao, that's it. Most of their groups also typically make a lot of music with no guaranteed profits for the idols.

well yes and no. At the time it was still Loen Ent.
Which became Kakao M.
Which became Kakao that we know today.
At the beginning they were pretty much nugu, then Kakao bought Loen but made it to be Kakao M.
Same company who had IU btw, so you can get the stakes here.
But Kakao M got so big with all the artists that they brought them all under the same umbrella, Kakao.
But in under diff. companies.
Basically, same stuff as before, but under their entire control.

Isn't the Chronology, as follows,
SK Telecom bought Melon and put it with their existing subsidiary Loen, which had only one but immense success - IU
Based on whom Loean bought stakes in others companies including Starship.
Then Kakao bought Loen, but it's interest was in Melon platform, not so much in producing idols, which it leaves mostly to the subsidiary labels, which don't interact with each other like say HYBE subsidiaries.
Many organisations and restructuring, Kakao M now has a bunch of labels producing different acts - Apink, Ive, Weeekly etc. And of course IU, who till 2021 was still the bulk 60-70% something of Kakao M's revenues.
Maybe this year, that will change some with Ive's success.

But to the point of the post, as a trainee it is better to join the Big 4, because even if not debuting, their training is good and the brand still will look good in the resume, that other agencies will pick up and debut.
Between the 4, I would pick the one which is about 2-3 years into their latest GG, to expect to debut after 1-2 years of training.
SM fits that timeline the best, with Aespa.
HYBE,JYPE have brand new debuts, so the next debut will be far out, while YG hasn't debuted in a long time, so either trouble or is sitting on a good reserve of trainees.

I won't joining cube rbw and yg
For the others, I kinda doubtful about starship, if my groups didn't hit big, they won't pour money to my groups and maybe even reduce it. Seeing how Wonyoung's story about love dive, seems like starship high up are reluctant to take a risk (it's understandable tho because 1 wrong move could messed all of them).
I think it depends on the sub-company.
Out of all the subs, maybe I'll choose ador. Don't worry, I can fight and protect myself.
I'll also consider SM, and just like someone above said before, SM rookies could join the subsidiary if they don't get to debut with SM. It's like a plan B. I hope that I could join Mystic Story since I love their creative design team, and I love many Billlie's songs.

I'm pretty sure that's the main reason most people would pick SM.
And with Mystic being a subsidiary of SM, you have a lot more chances.

Not an option, but The Black Label. If I could join any group it would definitely be Blackpink (great contracts, great solo work, $$$, and not overworked... the lack of group content/music is the fans' problem more then mine). If you were to calculate $-per-hour worked, BP members would probably make 5-10X the closest group. The next BP is more likely to come out of TBL than YG because Teddy will focus on TBLGG. Also, it might be more likely that I would get into the group because TBL is a new company. But they have tons of money and experience, so none of the downsides of a new company.
Out of the presented options, Hybe has the most money and they seem competent, so probably one of their sub-companies.
