its not that their songs sound similar, its the vibe of the songs if you get what I mean, like the people who might check NMIXX after seeing images and performances are the same people who will check ITZY.
Its just that they target the same audience and focus on strong dance formations. If NMIXX did not "switch" in middle of songs, the song can be passed to ITZY and it would not be out of their comfort range.
They both have the bubbly/badass thing going on. Its not wrong, many also have this image but two in the same company is not good for the company.
I think NMIXX needs to go Purple Kiss route, vocal focused and darker than their current sound

it looks very similar, especially in the dance break part. I don't understand why jyp using Itzy's singing style for them. Such a shame that Jyp wasting their vocal ability with weird songs. Especially the beautiful voices of Lily and Haewon are wasted with such tracks. 
This shows us that ITZY's style does not suit everyone. -

I don’t see it. There’s a sassiness and attitude in their concept that they have in common, compared to say, Twice, but beyond that and them both being females, no.
To me, part of NMIXX’s problem is they’re trying to do too much on every song (is being extra their concept?) - too many vocals, too many change ups, intense instrumentals. I’m reminded of that old Chanel adage to take one accessory off before you leave the house. I always feel like “it would be good if there just wasn’t this thing.”
(And I’m a fan of change ups and complex layers but I just don’t think their production works)
Itzy to me musically is more stripped back - there’s usually a simple song structure and a simple but catchy instrumental, there aren’t a lot of change ups with melodies or harmonies.
NMIXX are more vocally driven and have points to show it off, like the stereotypical SM vocal flex, in the middle of a song.
Both groups have a strong dance focus but to me, Itzy’s feels smoother and stronger and is woven through their MVS and performances. Itzy feels like a group of dancers. Nmixx feels like a group that dances.

They are both going the messy and experimental route but Itzy executes it better. Itzy's music can be good or bad but at the end of the day it is still catchy and easy to listen even if its not your cup of tea. Nmixx on the other hand, there songs are unbearable and grating. Which is so crazy because Nmixx has one of the best vocals in kpop for a gg.
