RE : BLACKPINK has the most national hits out of any girl group

  • Fire was a national hit for 2ne1?

    Also the boys for snsd?

    OP
  • Seems national hit has lost its meaning in recent years. It should be for songs that not only ruled the charts but had some kind of lasting effect for at least that year or beyond.

How can PWF be up there as a national hit when it came out during Cheer Up and TT, it wasn't even close to them then and certainly didn't have the same lobegvity. Same with AIIYL when songs like Red Flavour and Gashina were huge. LSG just did well on the charts otherwise it didn't really have much of a lasting impact.

Actually pwf had great longevity. I guess u could say it's peak wasn't the biggest. Iirc it ended up out lasting tt on Melon and gaon.

Aiiyl and red flavor pretty much on same level of charting. Gashina is below both.

Like I said it's not just purely about charting. Othwise multiple songs every year would be national hits which undermines it's status (though it's not like national is even an actual title lol)

If a dozen or so movie releases per year gets Avengers (1st one) box office levels then there's nothing special about Avengers, it's just another movie. In fact it's been beaten a few times too both by own franchise and those of others. But as we know not only did Avengers break records it at the time was a massive worldwide and it changed the movie industry for more "universes" and taking the hero genre to be heights. That's impact.

Red flavour was the song of the year and Gashina was every where with covers and references on TV, it cemented her as one of the biggest soloists in Korea. Aiiyl didn't match that, it was just a successful song and that goes back to be above point.

Lol u obviously havent kept up with BP's charting and u lost me the moment u started downplaying pwf's longetivity. AIIYL had amazing longevity and would chart again when summer came around. It's still very much still mentioned by people. Don't talk abt things u obviously dont know abt.

  • is this a joke?

not every good charting song is considered a national hit

usually its songs that have a huge impact on the group's career itself

i cant think of any group with more national hits than WG

if talking about chart toppers, Twice and Sistar have the most although BP will soon catch up i believe ( unless twice make a turnaround )

PWF had more longevity than TT by about 10 weeks, so you can't say "certainly" when you are factually wrong on that part. AIIYL had more longevity on the Gaon 100 than even Cheer Up did. It's an honest mistake though since sometimes we remember things differently than they happen.

  • Oh come on. Are blinks so obsessed with just numbers they're blinded to everything else? I've already said numbers alone != impact. It's like you guys are stanning stats rather than an actual group lol.

Numbers doesn't automatically mean a national hit. A hit sure, a national hit? Debatable. It's especially the case when other songs had bigger numbers at the time. You can't say something is a national hit a while after its sales get better either, that's not how it works in anything.

If aiiyl was national hit worthy because eof it's charting only then why wasn't it being mentioned/talked about as much Gashina or Red Flavour? Why didn't it win awards left and right that year like RF? Why was it not being played every where on TV shows as much as them? It had none of those, it was just a very successful song.

    which award RF win??

  • Coming for bp only I see. PWF outlasted TT and has over 5.5 million UL. Red Flavor and AIIYL are on par. And LSG not having any impact? That song has 900 million digital points might I add

bp songs have smth many dont have, in their carrer too:

longevity :pepe-high-five: u know groups wish to have that long enough to be calling themselves n1

rf didnt do that either, rv stans still think it should have won ever soty but that wasnt the case at all

it been way to many years, to many covers, to many still dancing t aiiyl for u think its otherwise. Gashina is not even in the picture, u can go to the charts right now and check it for yourself

AIIYL is the only song between those and others too that has been charting on Gaon digital 200 every year since 2017. it spend 65 consecutive weeks on gaon . it is a national hit.

    65 weeks was for melon.

AIIYL charted for 67 or 68 weeks on the Gaon 100 and before OMG's Dolphin came, it had the best longevity of any girl group song since Gaon's creation(yes including Cheer Up).

  • im watching the drama that delusional haters here dismissing PWF and AIIYL which both have more than 5 mil ULs. We know there is only a handful of songs reaching that milestones.

    The downplay is funny

  • Yes, 3, which is the most. Tell Me, Nobody, So Hot.

Twice and SNSD have two ( I actually believe SNSD has just one, but fighting one fandom at once is enough)

Twice has Cheer Up, TT and Signal, or not? Signal was very popular too.

SNSD has Gee. Other songs are just super popular like Genie or The Boys but national song is just Gee in my opinion. Same situation like Blackpink in my opinion. They have only one and that is D4. Other songs are super popular but no national songs beside D4.

Signal was popular but definitely not enough to be mentioned in the same line as Cheer Up or TT

Only Cheer Up and TT. I am actually surprised you mentioned Signal, it is one of the worst performing songs. Closest to NH title would be DTNA, but I'd call it simply a huge summer hit instead.

I agree, that's what I meant. Tho a lot of Sones want to think Into The New World is a NH, because many people cover it and it was used during protests. However song actually had pure charting, it is just the lyrics are what keeps it in people's consciousness.

I mentioned Signal because it won Song of the year. That made me think it could be a national song. But there were no facts or something else I could deliver. Just something I thought.

Into the new world definitely has longevity and is also a significant song. The lyrics are very popular but for me a national song has more criteria that would have to be fulfilled.

Signal was just assumed. Into New World is a meaningful song for me that has longevity. But a national song? Hmm, I don't know.

  • Was Loving U really bigger than alone or stats are lying? Cuz I always thought LU was an after song.

Alone and Loving U were the 2 biggest idol songs in 2012

The only reason they are not the biggest song that year, is because Gangnam Style and Cherry Blossom Ending exists in 2012.

Yes they even beat Big Bang. Big freaking Bang

    Screenshot_20220808-180249_Samsung Internet.jpg

Loving U probably is the song that started the summer trend and concept for the entire industry. Before that there wasn't such a thing as a 'summer comeback'.

I mean why do people not talk about spring/winter/autumn comeback but only Summer comebacks? Because Sistar made it a thing
