Purple Kiss is such an unfortunate case in Kpop

They are pretty mid tier I think. I know their sales seem to be doing well, and I feel like people at least know them. Which is a good thing.

There is a lot of potential so I think eventually they'll find their stride. Find something that works. In kpop, I feel it's easy to expect a group to be doing well from the getgo, when in reality, some might get attention a bit later. So I'm hoping they will blow up soon.

Zombie was a good song and concept to promote them. The rest of their releases are what people call "hard to digest" and I don't see them getting mainstream in kpop if they continue with jt

i wouldn't call them mid tier, groups like Fromis, Loona or Billlie are mid tier, their last album sold 36k which is a small amount for today's industry sales, which is a shame, Zombie has been on repeat for months

Zombie was cute but they did a poor choice by following it up with Meme imo. Pretty psycho would have been such a better direct follow-up instead.

For example I found the mememe song hard to digest bc while it wasn't bad it's not something I would download or replay due to how dark the vibes of the song are (same as their debut song), some of the parts were also hard to listen not because they were bad but because It's too strong and you have to be in a certain mood for it. Maybe it's like the noise music category people give to bgs

I think they need a 'hit' song

They debuted like last year and aren't doing bad at all. They are doing as good as it gets when it comes to "nugudom", even calling them nugus might be a little too much, actual nugu stans would be offended you mentioned purple kiss like that lol.

I really thought Zombie would have been the song to set them over as it displayed all of their strengths (vocals, dance, performance, personalities) in a more conventional mainstream way than the songs on Into Violet. I'm hopeful - Mamamoo wasn't conventional either and it certainly seems like there is more room for different types of gg in the marketplace rn..

They will be fine I think, they all have strong vocals and a very good rapper, all in a diverse discography. They may not of blown up like alot of other 4th gen, but I have faith RBW will do right by them and grow them in the next year or so into a big hitter.

They deserve more fame and Skip Skip, Zombie, Cast Pearls Before Swine and memeM all did nothing to deserve this.

yeah, well you get what I mean though, right? Like, maybe 36k isn't a lot, but it's not that low either in terms of nugu group sales and they are definitely growing. I think they just need a hit, and they'll get there.

I think this is so important. Someone has to go viral or a group needs to have a visual or a stan attractor that gets the general Kpop fanbase talking and eventually stanning.

Purple Kiss reminds me of what i call "elevated" nugus. Not Twice high tier or Loona mid tier, but also not total nugu either. They're in the same class as Rocket Punch, Cherry Bullet, Weki Meki, Weeekly, and Wooah.

It just takes time. I hope memeM wasn't a step back for them though. On a personal level I'm really not a fan of the song; and it seems the mini album sold fewer copies than the previous release?
