Interesting stats about Spotify listeners

No one in USA

kpop still has a lot of potential to grow there

Amazing how listeners for BTS is 4-6 times more than the rest. Also interesting while Twice has Japan as number one in their list and BTS has Japan as number 3, the listeners from Japan for BTS are higher than Twice’s.

And only BTS, Blackpink, Twice and IVE surpassed 300K mark at least from one country. It’s crazy for IVE because they only debuted. IVE’s Japanese listeners are also quite high.

Overall, really proves that BTS, Blackpink and Twice has global Spotify domination. And looks like IVE is going towards that direction too.

exo also popular in India too I think they are third most liked group in India after bts and bp

Dang wasn't expecting Mexico city to be number 1 for bts

Indonesia really hard carrying most kpop streams. I feel they need more acknowledgement from these kpop companies

Also, I'm surprised that there are two Indian cities at the top 5 streaming list for Blackpink. I always thought SEA was Blackpink's biggest strength.

not really SEA only China too (on QQ music) but bp is also popular in some countries of latin America ( Brazil, Mexico) + India

SEA being prominent for all groups is no surprise but it's interesting to see who expands past that and where. BTS has the biggest range with LATAM, Japan and India followed by BP/Twice both with LATAM and India/Japan respectively (for 2 cities each at that). SKZ is the only other group with LATAM while 17, Aespa, IVE, and TXT all have Japan, and Exo/127 only having SEA cities.

The different groups trends match pretty well imo, SKZ is often on latam countries top YT monthly gains and spotify charts while 17 and TXT sell well in Japan and Aespa/IVE are GGs with hit songs and that often translates to good charting/streams like how MMM's Hip or Itzy's Wannabe have jpn certs; meanwhile Exo is an older, much less active group and 127 don't have a region outside of SEA where they are as notably popular as the other groups. BTS, BP, and Twice have been the 3 most streamed kpops groups for a hot minute each with their own stronger regions tho BTS are the most globally popular group so it checks out

Curious to see the list for other prominent groups on spotify like Itzy and Enha tho I can hazard a guess

BP always had a fair share of fans in Latin America, but it wasn't as drastic as until the recent years.

Also Snowdrop was only popular within the Indian kpop community. Snowdrop was probably more popular in the US, than it was over here. BP is only known here for their music and MVs, hence the Spotify and YouTube numbers.

I didn't know you were from India anyways this is what I heard from some snowdrop fans. I guess it was popular within the kdrama niche over there I wasn't really up to date with the drama so you might be right.

less than 3% of India's population consumes Korean entertainment so even if the numbers seem huge, it's nothing compared to the overall population. So calling anything related to Kpop as popular over here is a reach imo.

yeah India is huge and they have their own dramas ( they really don't need kdramas lol) and their own music genre

Kpop fans should bow down to SEA fans instead of downplaying them while they are the first ones to support their faves

India being such a major player in these top Spotify groups like BTS and BP is interesting to me. And India I don’t think even a fraction have Spotify so imagine the potential amazing.

Twice Japan domination tho. As expected.

Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippians seem to be major players as well. I always knew they loved EXO.

it’s funny how the shade against specific groups is “that group is only popular in Asia” which is a dumb thing to say anyways but then hysterical to see that is literally every Kpop group listed here.

Interesting to see Mexico and Chile hard-carrying here. More Spanish language content, savvy Kpop PR folk.

This once again proves Spotify streams aren't important to make money because japan is nowhere to be seen in 127 list yet they will reach over 200.000 attendees for their dome tour
