She didn't have SM backing her, she made SM what it is. In an interview she once said that she "built" the old SM headquarters.

It's not about spending money, it's about supporting someone. It's like when people brag that their fave sports team won the championship. They don't play, they just support the team by buying tickets to games and giving moral support.

I understand your point and I agree to a certain extent. However, the success of K-pop groups is driven by fandom 95%. General public barely cares at all, be it in SK or international. When BTS sells millions of copies of an album and ARMY starts to brag, they have a good reason to. They are the ones buying those albums.

Absolutely, without a doubt. I would also add DBSK and BoA. SM in general always paid attention to their Japanese releases as if they were Korean. They put alot of effort into them and it shows even after all these years. For example, this song in particular is a tier of its own.

2008-2012 was the digital age. None of the groups sold well physically compared to 4th gen. You didn´t discover anything new.

It still has big popularity, especially in Asian countries. But here in Europe, I grew up playing it and I left the game quite a while ago and so did many of my friends. So I think you do have a point there. In the west kids have moved to games like Fortnite.
